David Jackson
MOOREVILLE – Carl David Jackson, 65, died Monday, May 6, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born Sept. 9, 1947, in Barren County, Ky., to Paul and Wanda Jackson. He graduated from Temple Hill High School in 1965. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the H.B. Grant Masonic Lodge 610 in Etoile, Ky. He was a member of Andrews Chapel Methodist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent and a lay speaker. He worked many years as a sales rep for Lowe’s and Riley Building Supply Company and he was a farmer. He enjoyed watching westerns and football on television and playing golf. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Andrews Chapel Methodist Church with Bro. Sammy Washburn and Bro. Robert McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in Andrews Chapel Cemetery. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Jackson of Mooreville; three daughters, Tammy Jackson of Mooreville, Tracy Jackson Deckard (Scott) of Glasgow, Ky., and Tracy Taylor Brown (Bobby) of Saltillo; one son, Donnie Taylor (Tonya) of Saltillo; his mother, Wanda Jackson of Glasgow, Ky.; five sisters, Paulette Vance (George), Nancy Berryman (Allen), Vickie Jackson, Sharon Jackson and Phyllis McKinney (Stoney), all of Glasgow, Ky.; one brother, Ernest Jackson (Charlene) of Glasgow, Ky.; 11 grandchildren, Erika, Nikki, Morgan, Austin, Hannah, Blake, Jade, Cheyenne, Kelli, Madison and Clayton; three great-grandchildren, Farah, Gunnar and Karsyn; one aunt, Ernestine Amos of Radcliff, Ky.; one uncle, Carl Jackson (Lu) of Louisville, Ky.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and a daughter, Christina Jackson.
Pallbearers will be Herman Hussey, Arthur Roy Reed, Leon Edwards, Kenneth Hussey, Greg Jackson, Andy Jackson and Clifton Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Hoyle Lyle, Dan York, Paul Stroud, Matt Long and Jimmy Hussey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Andrew Chapel Cemetery Fund.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.

Carolyn Godin
PONTOTOC – Carolyn Margaret Godin, 56, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, May 6, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center of Tupelo. She was born on March 13, 1957, to Percy and Muriel Thompson Theriault in Caribou, Maine. She married Armand Godin on April 15, 1977. They enjoyed more than 35 years together. She was a Christian, a member of Buchanan Baptist Church and a volunteer worker at Community Hospice in Verona.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Buchanan Baptist Church with Bro. David Westmoreland and Bro. Charlie Swords officiating. Burial will follow in the Buchanan Cemetery. Baldwin-Nowell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Armand Godin of Pontotoc; her mother, Muriel Theriault of Caribou, Maine; two sons, Troy Lee Godin of Ripley and Jason Michael Godin of Pontotoc; four grandchildren, Taylor Godin, Drew Godin, Alicia Godin and Asher Godin; three sisters, Dorena Purkapile of Rogers, Ark., Donna Bramlitt of Pontotoc and Darlene Hallett of Caribou, Maine; two brothers, Randy Theriault and Larry Theriault, both of Caribou, Maine; half brother, Rodney Theriault of Wisconsin; half sister, Pricilla Austin of Caribou, Maine; and a very special friend, Lisa Westmoreland.
She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Bernard Rediker.
Pallbearers will be Todd Shettles, Kirk Shettles, Eric Purkapile, Brent Purkapile, Randy Finch and Collins Finch. Honorary pallbearers will be Travis Jenkins, Lamon Graham, Jerry Short and Jay Knight.

Eula McCalister
PONTOTOC – Eula Mae McCalister, 76, died Friday, May 3, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. A native of Lee County, she was the daughter of James Carmickle and Evelyn Westmoreland Martin. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She loved watching westerns, babysitting and puzzle books. She was the widow of William McCalister.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Eugene Vaughn will officiate. Burial will be in Pontotoc City Cemetery. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by two daughters, Latosha (William) Dixon of Pontotoc and Belinda McCalister of Tupelo; one son, William McCalister of Tupelo; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 1 to 5 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

NEW ALBANY – Kathryn Kitchens, 84, died Monday, May 6, 2013, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by United Funeral Service in New Albany.

Naomie Newby
BOONEVILLE – Naomie Newby, 91, died Monday, May 6, 2013, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. She was born July 29, 1921, to Louis and Myrtle Cissom Swindle. She worked for Brown Shoe Company for several years. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel in Booneville with Bro. Walter Downs and Bro. Jerry Kelly officiating, and Bobbie Whirley delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters-in-law, Polly Newby of Booneville and Tena Newby of Baldwyn; one son-in-law, Thelmer Saylors of Booneville; three sisters, Connie Guin, Syble (Layne) Dees and Eunice (Jerry) Kelly, all of Booneville; one brother, Buddy Calvery of Booneville; six grandchildren, Sharon (Tim) Voyles, Kenny Ray (Becky) Saylors, Steve (Julie) Newby, Lisa (Todd) Ellis, Michael (Renee) Newby and Allen (Lorie) Newby; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Saylors; three sons, Billy Newby, Donnie Ray Newby and Kenneth Newby; her father, her mother and stepfather, Monroe Calvery; and one grandson, Tim Saylors.
Pallbearers will be her nephews.

Andy Harrison
CALHOUN CITY – James Andy Harrison, 69, died Monday, May 6, 2013, at Calhoun Health Services Nursing Home. He was born Nov. 4, 1943, in Derma to William Bryan Harrison and Mattie Gertrude Cook Harrison. He was a retired asphalt and paving foreman, and later retired from the furniture business. He was a member of Lewis Memorial Methodist Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Susan (Joe) Crisler of Ridgeland; three brothers, Bill (Polly) Harrison of Columbus, Ohio, Joe (Marlyn) Harrison of Fairfield, Ill., and Tom (Shirley) Harrison of Lafayette, La.; two sisters-in-law, Julia Harrison of Derma and Dot Langford of Tupelo; one granddaughter, Brandi Bunn; one great-grandson, Caleb Bunn; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Mac Hester; his parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Howell Mitchell; brothers, Calvin Dee Harrison and Harold Grady “Tick” Harrison; a sister-in-law, Ruth Harrison; and a nephew, Adam H. “Buddy” Mitchell.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pryor Funeral Home Chapel in Calhoun City with Bro. Jimmy Vance officiating. Burial will be in Oak Springs Cemetery at Derma.
Pallbearers will be James Harrison, Bobby Harrison, David Earl Harrison, Landreth Mitchell, David Edward Harrison, John Harrison and Dee Harrison.

James McBryde
OLIVE BRANCH – James Sylvester McBryde, 86, died Sunday, May 6, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto. He was born Aug. 16, 1926, in New Albany to Samuel Oliver and Charlotte Russell McBryde. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Olive Branch. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service and served in the U.S. Navy.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at United Funeral Service Chapel in New Albany with the Rev. Whitt Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Old Glenfield Cemetery. United Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by one daughter, Deborah Sue McBryde King (Glenn) of Olive Branch; two grandchildren, Jessica Sue King Welch (Brian) of Memphis and Melissa Ann King of Olive Branch; and one great-grandchild, Conner Douglas King.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Ruth Cobb McBryde; a sister, Alice Little; and two brothers, Richard McBryde and George McBryde.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday.
In honor of Mr. McBryde’s service to his country, United Funeral Service will fly the U.S. Navy flag during his visitation and service.

BRUCE – Joyce Ann Odum Buchanan, 62, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Calhoun Health Services Nursing Home in Calhoun City. She was born March 17, 1951, in Oxford. She was a homemaker and a member of Haven Hill Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce with Bro. Randy Bain and Bro. Freddie Buchanan officiating. Burial will be in Abbeville Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Freddie Buchanan of Bruce; two sons, James (Jed) Knight and Jason Knight, both of Oxford; stepsons, John Buchanan of Saltillo and Zack Buchanan of Bruce; three sisters, Martha Shoffner of Philadelphia, and Bessie Russell and Reba Russell, both of Abbeville; one brother, Edward Odum Jr.; two grandchildren, Katherine Lynn Knight and Andrew Knight; and two stepgrandchildren, Seth Buchanan and Andy Buchanan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Edward Odum and Toxie Lee Bennett Odum.

HOUSTON – Leslie Joe Wiggs, 74, died Monday, May 6, 2013, at his home. He was born March 29, 1939, to Elmer Bud Wiggs and Robbie Pauline Mayhan Wiggs. He was a retired barber and farmer. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Houston Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Chickasaw Memorial Gardens in Houston. Houston Funeral Home of Houston is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Cox Wiggs of Houston; his son, Eddie Joe and Carol Wiggs of Houston; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Wiggs of Houston, Alyssa Alford of Houston, Josh and Meghon Alford of Jonesboro, Ark., Jody Alford and fiancée, Kelli Boatner, of Houston, and Jerritt Alford of Houston; his sisters, Shirley Hubbard of Derma, Louise Smith of Houston, Patricia Marshall of Calhoun City; and his brothers, Jimmy D. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Hosea Lee Wiggs; and his daughter, Melissa Alford.

Austin Herring
MEMPHIS – Austin P. “Fish” Herring passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013, in Memphis. He was born Aug. 26, 1920, in New Albany.
Services were Saturday, April 6, at Family Funeral Care in Memphis. Interment was in Memorial Memory Gardens. Family Funeral Care was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include a nephew, E.M. Herring of Tupelo.

Frances Holbrook
ASHLAND – Frances Kay Holbrook, 61, died Monday, May 6, 2013, in Ashland. She was born Jan. 19, 1952, in New Albany. She was a factory worker and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Ashland Baptist Church. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery in Ashland. Holly Springs Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her mother, Elzine Hobson Holbrook of Ashland; a nephew, Donnie Holbrook (Angie) of Ashland; a great-nephew, Hunter Holbrook of Ashland; great-nieces, Erica Bailey and Reba Holbrook of Ashland; and a sister-in-law, Aleatha Holbrook (Howard) of Ripley.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Holbrook.

WEST POINT – Beverly Jean Morton, 62, died Thursday, May 2, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center.

Lydia Callaghan
ABERDEEN – Lydia Christina Nichols Callaghan, 67, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She lived all over the world including New York City, London and Australia before settling in Aberdeen. She volunteered at the Aberdeen Animal Shelter. She loved animals, books, good food and travel. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her charisma and her great story-telling ability.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace Episcopal Church with the Rev. Frank W. Hughes, Ph.D., officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mulhearn Funeral Home of Monroe, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her children, Lydia, John and Ruby Callaghan; a brother, Steve Nichols; and granddaughters, Faye and Madeleine Weiss, and Missy and Piper Callaghan.

Mickey Wilemon
MOOREVILLE – Mickey L. Wilemon, 58, died Monday, May 6, 2013, at Sanctuary Hospice House after an illness since October. He was born Aug. 4, 1954, in Fulton to Grady Lynn and Eddie Faye Hatcher Wilemon. In his early life, he worked for JESCO and later with Homan Lumber Co. in Fulton until he became disabled 10 years ago. He enjoyed riding through the countryside and fishing. He was Baptist by faith.
Survivors include one son, Rickey Wilemon of Coco, Fla.; two sisters, Betty Thrasher of Mooreville and Donna Newell of Tupelo; one grandchild, Jena Wilemon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Brenda Wilemon.

Jewel Wright
AMORY – Jewel B. Wright, 94, died on Monday, May 6, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice. Born on April 18, 1919, in Monroe County, she was a daughter of the late Curtis J. and Ellie Lou Webb Berry. She attended Monroe County schools. On April 16, 1947, she married Paul W. Wright. Before becoming a homemaker, she worked as a nurse at Gilmore Memorial Hospital and helped with the move to the new hospital. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Passionate about caring for others, she enjoyed cooking and having family celebrations in her home; watching old movies; listening to country and gospel music; and making jewelry. A mother to many she always made everyone feel welcomed. Affectionately known as “Mamaw” and “Aunt Jewel,” she had a special love for her family and children.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Gail Justice, Beth Schultheiss, Randy Stacy, Paula Wood, Tracy Higgins, George B. Casterline, Lynn Marie Schwartz, Paul A. Wright and Phillip Moore; 23 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; special niece, Judy Moore (Billy) of Amory; and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by stepdaughters, Nina Stacy and Linda Casterline; stepson, Paul Warren Wright Jr.; grandson, Fred Wright; a great-granddaughter; three sisters; and five brothers.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Criddle officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandson, great-grandsons and great-nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Billy W. Garrison
BLUE MOUNTAIN – Billy Wayne Garrison, 79, died Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis. He was born Dec. 22, 1933, to Oliver and Mary Francis McElroy Garrison. He was a member of Academy Baptist Church. He was a lifelong Mason, and a good husband, father and friend. He retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service. He worked at Cotton Plant Service Station after retirement from the military.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with military honors. The Rev. Wayne Cobb will officiate. Burial will be in Academy Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Rich Garrison of Blue Mountain; one son, Kenneth Dale Garrison of Blue Mountain; an adopted son, Gordon T. Garrison of Kentucky; and two sisters, Nadie Winton (Dan) of Memphis and Imogene Wages of Tupelo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gary Wayne Garrison; and one sister, Martha Davis.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Davis, Billy Smith, Clay Garrett, David Davis, Don Smith and Wylie Sappington. Honorary pallbearers will be Butch Coombs, Danny Jordan, James Rodgers and James Cousar.
