BRUCE – Cynthia Pauline Melissa Melton, 90, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 27, 1919, in Webster County. She was a member of Schoona Valley Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Taylor and Rev. Bill Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery in Coffeeville.
Survivors include her husband, Doyle Lee Melton of Bruce; three daughters, Jean Chandler (Jerry) of Houlka, Bertie Walker (Earl) of Mooreville and Linda Taylor (James) of Pittsboro; four sons, Joe Melton (Lucy), Jerry Melton, Mark Melton (special friend Brenda Beard), all of Bruce; and Ricky Melton (Faye) of Mosul, Iraq; one sister, Earline Staggs of Eupora; 11 grandchildren, Ronald G. Hughes, Melba Lindy Hardin, Carylon Tutor, Jimmy Taylor, Missy Gray, Stephanie Bardo, Lee Melton, Bridget Melton, Terry Joe Coleman, Jerry Delain Coleman and Sherry Coleman; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Will Swindle and Minnie Weeks Swindle; a great-granddaughter, Beth White; a brother, Cleave Swindle; and four sisters, Dru Card, Braskie Card, Levoria Card and Orine Weeks.
Pallbearers will be Ron Hughes, Lee Melton, Mark Simmons, Dee Taylor, Jimmy Taylor and Casey Tutor.
Visitation will be today from 12 p.m. until service time.

PONTOTOC – Enoch H. “Junior” Gregory, 75, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Pontotoc. Visitation will be Monday from 6-9 p.m. at Baldwin-Nowell Funeral Home of Pontotoc. All other arrangements are incomplete and will be announced at a later time.
PONTOTOC – Frances Jorgenson, 82, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at the Tippah County Hospital in Ripley after an extended illness.
She was born May 15, 1927, to Damon and Ida Cox Andrews and was a homemaker.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Baldwin-Nowell Chapel with Bro. Robert Kingsley officiating. Burial will follow in the Longview Cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Gail Wilson (Karen) of Pontotoc and Rocky Jorgenson of Verona; one granddaughter, Melissa Inmon of Pontotoc; and one great-granddaughter, Olivia Inmon of Pontotoc.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Wambert Andrews; and one sister, Delphia Merritt.
Visitation will be today from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home and Monday from 10 a.m. until service time.
TUPELO – Easter Payne died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Grayson-Porter’s Funeral Home of Tupelo.
MANTACHIE – Nell Catherine Lesley, 74, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at Darlington Oaks Hospice in Verona.
She was born Nov. 23, 1934, in Itawamba County to the late Elmer Ardale and Mary Mattie Hurd Bates. On May 19, 1951, she and John Quincy “J.Q.” Lesley were married. She was a homemaker and worked at Mantachie Mfg. Co. and Rex Brown Mfg. Co. until she retired to keep her grandchildren.
She was an active member of the Greenwood Baptist Church. She was a servant of God who helped those in need, the trait for which she earned the Spirit of Service Award from the Fulton Pilot Club in April 2006.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at Senter Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Gary O’Neal and Bro. David Westmoreland officiating. Burial will be in Walton Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, J.Q. Lesley of Mantachie; one son, Johnny Lesley (Sharon) of Fulton; two daughters, Sandra Cooley of Mantachie and Patricia Pomeroy (Clint) of Natchez; seven grandchildren, Dare Cooley, Matt, Beth, Will and Olivia Lesley, and Clinton and Lesley Pomeroy; one great-grandchild, Jonathan Scott Lesley; two brothers, Joe Bates (Jo) and James Bates (Kathy), both of Fulton; one sister-in-law, Sue Bates of Fulton; three special friends, Dorothy Grimes, Leatrice Thorn and Gale Martin; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by infant twin daughters, Linda and Brenda Lesley; one son, Marty Lesley; one son-in-law, Darrell Cooley; and three brothers, Hubert, Jerry and Guy Bates.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Thorn, Harold Martin, Kenny Bates, Charles Bates, Kane Bates, Danny Sample, Alfred Jones and Adam Bates.
Visitation will be today from 5-8:30 p.m. and from 6:30 a.m. until service time on Monday.
BOONEVILLE – Eva Sue Eaton Rinehart, 84, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville.
She was born Feb. 9, 1925, in Tippah County to Grady Everett Eaton and Lennie Effie Wallis Eaton. She was a supervisor in the furniture manufacturing industry. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking and being outdoors. She especially loved spending time with her family. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Robert Walker officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, Bobby Rinehart (Kay) of Dumas and Larry Rinehart of Dry Creek; one daughter, Tammy Carpenter (Jerry) of Dry Creek; three sisters, Nona Eaton of Jumpertown, Shirley Tennison (Gerald) of Booneville, and Luna Campbell (Billy) of Baldwyn; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Maxine Eaton of Jumpertown; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Rinehart, in 1974; her parents; one brother, E.C. “Bud” Eaton; and one great-grandson, Cody Patrick Rinehart.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Rinehart, Chris Rinehart, Kevin Rinehart, Shannon Carpenter, Rocky Carpenter and Robby Carpenter.
Visitation will continue at the funeral home until 1:30 p.m. today.
IUKA – Eva Walker, 80, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009.
Visitation will be tonight from 5-8 at Ludlam Funeral Home in Iuka. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery in Iuka.
HOLLY SPRINGS – Patricia Ferrell Stroupe, 74, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 16, 1935, in Ashland. She was a member of Ashland Baptist Church and was a homemaker and domestic.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Ashland Cemetery with Bro. Stanley Huddleston officiating. Burial will be at Ashland Cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Neil Stroupe of Holly Springs; a daughter, Stephanie Stroupe of Germantown, Tenn.; a son, Eric Johnson Stroupe of Holly Springs; and grandchildren, Elizabeth and Hannah Hughes, and Samantha, Staci and Patrick Stroupe.
SALTILLO – Hazel Kellum Johnson, 96, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at the Homeplace in Saltillo after an extended illness. Arrangements are incomplete will be announced later by Waters Funeral Home of Baldwyn.
