TUPELO – Loretta Shell, 69, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by N.L. Jones Funeral Directors.
Louis Bowles
BOONEVILLE – Louis Bowles, 70, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at Longwood Community Living Center in Booneville. He was born July 15, 1942, to James and Zetta Miller Bowles. He was a bricklayer.
Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Sunday, November 18, 2012, at Hodges Chapel Cemetery with Minister Keith Sanders officiating. McMillan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by one daughter, Darlene (Gene) Richie of Lexington, Ky.; one son, Bobby Louis (Pam) Bowles of Lexington, Ky.; one sister-in-law, Mary (Jerry) Smith of Booneville; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Clay Bowles; and his parents.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Legg, Mark Lambert, Robert Miller, Shane Smith, Scotty Johnson and Darell Smith.

HOLLY SPRINGS – Josie Sims Freeman, 80, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven.
Service is 10 a.m. Tuesday at Yarbrough Chapel CME Church in Holly Springs. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 2 to 7 p.m. with visit with family 6 to 7 p.m. today. The body will lie in repose 9:30 to 9:55 a.m. at the church on Tuesday.

Miriam Jolly
OKOLONA – Miriam Wise “Pete” Jolly, 83, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Shearer-Richardson Nursing Home in Okolona where she had resided the last five plus years. She was born in the Shake Rag Community of Chickasaw Co. to Kirby Wise Sr. and Marie Riley Wise. She graduated from Egypt High School and married her husband, J.D. Jolly Jr. in January l952. Her working career was as a seamstress at Delta Trousers/Meadow Sportswear. She excelled as a housewife and homemaker, mother and grandmother and was held in highest esteem by her children and grandchildren. Her legacy will include that of being a master cook and sharing large meals in her home with family and friends. She enjoyed reading but her devotion was to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a longtime member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Okolona Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with her nephew, Bro. Jeff Myatt officiating. Burial will be in the Wise/Jolly family plot at Boones Chapel Cemetery.
Survivors include her three children, Mike Jolly (Shelia) of Thaxton, State Senator Russell Jolly (Rhonda) of Houston and Lydia Edwards (George) of Hurley; two sisters, Yvonne Myatt of Lakeland, Fla., and Mary Evelyn Cox of Okolona; seven grandchildren, Scott, Greg, Brandon, Paul, Leslie, Pam and Tanya; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J. D. in 2001; her daughter, Jennifer Jolly Clayton in 2002; and her brothers, Gilbert, Kirby Jr. and Louie Wise.
Pallbearers will be Scott, Greg, Blake and Brandon Jolly, Paul Howell, Gib Wise, Dickey Wise and Paul Edwards. Honorary pallbearers will be Brenda Wise and staff at Shearer-Richardson Nursing Home in Okolona.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Holland Funeral Directors, Okolona Chapel.

Sgt. Ryan Meeks
GUNTOWN – Sgt. Ryan Meeks, 28, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was currently serving in the U.S. Army after eight years with two tours in Iraq. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Saltillo.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Waters Funeral Home With Senior Master Sgt. Dewayne Eaves officiating with burial in the Saltillo Cemetery with full Military Honors.
He is survived by his wife, Dalynn Meeks of Guntown; children, Blake, Savanna and Hunter, of the home; parents, Kirk and Tina Meeks of Saltillo; grandmother, Corrine Herndon of Saltillo; sister, Allegra Meeks of Saltillo; brothers, Karter Meeks of Saltillo and Zachary Ross of Tupelo; aunt and uncle, Pat and Doug Thornton of Guntown; mother and father-in-law; grandmother and grandfather-in-laws; brother and sister-in-laws; cousins; and other family.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Kelly Meeks, Rex Herndon, Dutch Blake and Beulah Eaves.
Pallbearers will be members of the military. Honorary pallbearers are Cody Hancock, Matthew Edwards, Jason Blake, Joseph Thornton, Kasey Thornton, Josh Herndon, Kasey Herndon and Drew Parker.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Program, the USO or Sanctuary Hospice House.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Waters Funeral Home.

Annie Prather
RIPLEY – Annie V. Prather, 58, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was a member of Moses United Methodist Church.
Service is at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Moses Chapel United Methodist Church in Ripley with the Rev. Jonathan Tucker officiating. Burial is in Boyd Cemetery. Foster and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by four sons, Edward O’Brian Prather (Marie), Lamar Prather (Pauline), Gregory Jermaine Prather (Christina) and Earnest O’Ryan Prather (Kimberly), all of Ripley; three daughters, Virginia Roschella Betts (Micheal), Tammie Shalane Morgan (Keith) and Nicole Vance (Willie), all of Ripley; goddaughter, Taunisha Cox; brother, William Jr. Bell of Ripley; sisters, Mimie (James) Anderson; Loucille (Oliver) Spencer of Booneville, Nattie Mae Paden and Lola (Windgate), all of New Jersey; 18 grandchildren; and special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Earl Prather; parents, William Earnest and Arie Lee Bell; one sister; three brothers; one sister-in-law; and one brother-in-law.
Visitation is noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday with family hour 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service at the church.

Brandy White
NETTLETON – Brandy Nicole Ray White, 31, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born on Nov. 10, 1981, in Lee County to Leonard and Amie Kennedy Ray. She was a lifelong resident of Nettleton, a homemaker and a member of Bigbee Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Nettleton High School. She enjoyed watching television and being with her family.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Chapel of Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton with Bro. Tommy Whaley and Bro. Truman Carter officiating. Burial will be in New Chapel Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel Joseph White of Nettleton; her parents; one daughter, Raven Alexis White, of the home; one son, Mason Brody White, of the home; one brother, Jimmy Ray (Kim) of Nettleton; and a paternal grandmother, Mary Ray of Nettleton.
She was preceded in death by one son, Braxton White; maternal grandparents, Wallace and Wynise Kennedy; paternal grandfather, E.A. Ray; and paternal great-grandmother, Estelle Ray.
Pallbearers will be Gary Cox, Gary Kennedy, Brandon Guyton, Donald Stegall, Cliff Allen and Boyd Duncan. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Bigbee Baptist Church.
Visitation will continue 9 to 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.

SNOW LAKE – Frances Sweeden, 70, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Baptist DeSoto in Southaven. She was born April 16, 1942, to Forney Edward and Evie Gray Hailey. She was a homemaker.
Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Holly Springs Funeral Home. Burial is at Bluff Springs in Ashland.
She is survived by her sons, Eddie Morgan of Cordova, Tenn., and Duane Morgan of Snow Lake; daughter, Linda Johnson of Holly Springs; brothers, Randy Hailey of Southaven, Bill Hailey of Mt. Pleasant and Ray Hailey of Mt. Pleasant; sisters, Martha Paradise of Somerville, Tenn., Dorothy Hardin of Mt. Pleasant, Edna Seals of Victoria; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne Sweeden; parents; and granddaughter, Stephanie Marie Freels.
Visitation is 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday.
