Carolyn Leech
AMORY – Eva Carolyn Leech, 69, died on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. Born on Nov. 11, 1943, in Itawamba County, she was a daughter of Vester and Edna Rusha Hutson Leech. Carolyn was a graduate of Tremont High School. Before retiring, she worked as a Finance and Insurance representative for several automotive dealerships. Carolyn was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church. Having the ability to overcome a massive stroke when she was 47, Carolyn’s determination to stay independent was an inspiration to everyone with whom she came in contact. She enjoyed watching sports and listening to Country and Gospel music.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Whaley officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery.
She is survived by her brother, Ellie Don Leech (Betty) of Amory; nieces and nephew, Marsha Tapscott, Michael Leech, and Loyce Riggan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Cody; and a niece, Joyce Dill.
Pallbearers will be Michael Leech, Zach Leech, Darwyn Riggan, Chad Dill, Curt Pearce, and Nathan Wilbanks.

Jim Morgan
CALHOUN CITY – Jim C. Morgan, 79, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at his son’s home. He was born March 8, 1933, in Calhoun City, and he served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired heating and cooling representative, a graduate of Derma High School and a member of First Baptist Church. He enjoyed Mississippi State ball games and his Social Coffee Drinkers Club of Calhoun City.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Calhoun City First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Vance officiating. Burial will be in Oak Spring Cemetery in Derma. Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by son, Blair (Jennifer) Morgan of Hernando; daughter, Tammy (Dennis) McAnally of Denham Springs, La.; mother-in-law, Ava Aston Reeves of Medford, Ore.; sister, Sarah Norris of Houston; two brothers, Bob Morgan of Marion, Ark., and Brynn “Dick” Morgan of Greenville, S.C.; and three grandchildren, Spencer McAnally, Joe Morgan and Harper Morgan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Judson Morgan and Elfie Obera White Morgan; and his wife, Syble Reeves Morgan.
Pallbearers will be Joey Hawkins, Woody Jones, Spencer McAnally, Bobby Joe Morgan, Randall Morgan and Ken Scott.

CORINTH – Karen Ranee Jackson Bickerstaff, 50, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Magnolia Regional Health Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Burial will be in Farmington Baptist Church Cemetery. Magnolia Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Miriam Jolly
OKOLONA – Miriam Wise “Pete” Jolly, 83, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Shearer-Richardson Nursing Home in Okolona where she had resided the last five plus years. She was born in the Shake Rag community of Chickasaw County to Kirby Wise Sr. and Marie Riley Wise. She graduated from Egypt High School and married her husband, J.D. Jolly Jr., in January 1952. Her working career was as a seamstress at Delta Trousers/Meadow Sportswear. She excelled as a housewife and homemaker, mother and grandmother and was held in highest esteem by her children and grandchildren. Her legacy will include that of being a master cook and sharing large meals in her home with family and friends. She enjoyed reading, but her devotion was to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a longtime member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 10 a.m. today at the Okolona Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with her nephew, Bro. Jeff Myatt officiating. Burial will be in the Wise/Jolly family plot at Boones Chapel Cemetery.
Survivors include her three children, Mike Jolly (Shelia) of Thaxton, State Sen. Russell Jolly (Rhonda) of Houston and Lydia Edwards (George) of Hurley; two sisters, Yvonne Myatt of Lakeland, Fla., and Mary Evelyn Cox of Okolona; seven grandchildren, Scott, Greg, Brandon, Paul, Leslie, Pam and Tanya; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.D. in 2001; her daughter, Jennifer Jolly Clayton in 2002; and her brothers, Gilbert, Kirby Jr. and Louie Wise.
Pallbearers will be Scott, Greg, Blake and Brandon Jolly, Paul Howell, Gib Wise, Dickey Wise and Paul Edwards.
Visitation is 9 a.m. until service time today at Holland Funeral Directors, Okolona Chapel.

Esteen Grice
BALDWYN – Esteen Vernell Grice, 78, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was born Sept. 20, 1934, in Lee County to Sol and Captoria Grice. She was an active member of Mt. Nebo C.M.E. Church. She has served as a Stewardess and on the Pastor Aide Board. She worked at Oakview Nursing Home for many years.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Nebo C.M.E. Church with the Rev. Johnathan Bass officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetry. Agnew & Sons Funeral Home of Baldwyn is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Sherry (Anthony) McGaughy of Tupelo; three sons, Chase (Carolyn) Grice and Kelvin (Jean) Grice, both of Baldwyn and Keith (Jeanette) Grice of Crestview, Fla.; one brother, Jimmy L. Grice of Baldwyn; one sister-in-law, Virginia Grice of Baldwyn; 10 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Lillie Mae Grice, Louise Taylor, Foriest A. Cummings and Louise Hereford; and one brother, Tommy Lee Grice.
Visitation is from 1 to 5 p.m., and family hour is from 5 to 6 p.m. today. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service on Wednesday.

Audine Sims
AMORY – Eunice Audine Renfro Sims, 86, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center in Amory. Born Feb. 4, 1926, she was a daughter of Eulous Richard and Aline Smith Renfro. She married Itha Ryon Sims; he died in 1961. She was a homemaker and took pride in raising her children. She enjoyed reading, sewing, listening to country and gospel music, and working with her flowers. She was a Baptist.
A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. Robert Earl Fowlkes officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Brewer, Rodney Brewer, Josh Brewer, Richey Brewer, Blake Bowen and Ricky Adams.
Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Smith, Timmy Brewer, Terry Brewer, Matt White and Eric White.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Janette Harrell of Tifton, Ga., Nancy Ann Brewer of Amory and Linda Carol Holloway of Hamilton; one son, Clarence Daniel “Danny” Sims of Sumpter, S.C.; one sister, Flora Aline Kyle of Wren; one brother, Clady Clayton Renfro of Sulligent, Ala.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Itha Ryon Sims; one son, Itha Ryon Sims Jr.; one sister, Emma Jean Renfro Adams; and one brother, Grafton Renfro.

Mary Nell Wheat
GUNTOWN – Mary Nell “Grannie” Wheat, 87, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at her home in Guntown. She was born Aug. 26, 1925, to W.S. “Simmie” and Mable McDougal. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Methodist Church. She was a retired beautician. She enjoyed dancing and spending time with friends and her family. She loved everyone she met.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Whitlock officiating. Burial will be in Prentiss Memorial Gardens. Waters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by daughter, Susan Shepard (Tom) of Guntown; son, David Wheat (Jody) of Sturgeon Bay, Wis.; grandchildren, Brad Holt (Kristy), Ginger Roberts, Mollie Perrigo (Justin), Jenna Wheat and Jeremy Wheat; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Holt, Will Holt and Bradyn Holt; and special friend, Joe Rickman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Wheat; daughter, Nancy Wheat Roy; her parents; and sister, Martha McDougal Downs.
Pallbearers will be Andy Green, Curtis Roy, Justin Perrigo, Jason David, Robert Herring and Earnest Davis.

Wilma Smith
GUNTOWN – Wilma L. Smith, 70, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Golden Living Center in Tupelo. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Guntown for 31 years where she taught Sunday school for 30 years. She was retired from Columbian Rope, and she enjoyed hummingbirds. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kesler Funeral Home Chapel in Baldwyn with Bro. Wayne Logan and Bro. Terry MyHand officating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery. Kesler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Smith of Guntown; four daughters, Twila Wilmoth (Norman) of Baldwyn, Beverly Bailey (Mark) of Guntown, Valerie Earnest (Ed) of Houston and Danica McCord of Tupelo; her mother, Thelma Bishop of Tupelo; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; five sisters; and two brothers.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wade White; and son, David L. Smith.
Pallbearers will be Chris Stacks, Lonnie Bailey, Sam Mitchell, Rodney Patterson, Danny Ray Smith and Benny Herring.

Geneva Cleveland
MYRTLE – Effie Geneva Cleveland, 91, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at her home. She was born in Union County on May 27, 1921, the daughter of Elvie and Effie Hall. She was a retired nurse’s aide and a Baptist. She enjoyed embroidering, quilting and fishing. She also loved her family and grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Glenfield Memorial Park in New Albany with Bro. Bobby Butler officiating. Glenfield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her son, Terry Cleveland (Eva); daughter, Diane Hefner, both of Myrtle; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Cleveland; a son, Larry Cleveland; four brothers; and four sisters.

Canary Edgeston
RIPLEY – Canary G. Edgeston, 86, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Tippah County Hospital in Ripley. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Foster & Son Funeral Home of Ripley.
David Bray
AMORY – David Evans Bray, 92, died on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center in Amory. Born Dec. 26, 1919, in Houston, he was a son of Benny Burkett Bray and Gladys Davis Bray Johnson. He married Lena Marie Ausborn; she later died. Working as a contractor, he was the owner of David E. Bray Enterprises. A man of faith, he was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps and involved with the Veterans of Armed Services. He enjoyed working hard and spending time with his family.
A great American and a veteran of World War II, he entered the U.S. Army on Oct. 10, 1941, and received his basic training at Camp Wheeler, Ga. He was a sharpshooter with the 8th Army Infantry. Arriving in Bombay, India, on Aug. 13, 1943, he later was promoted to supply sergeant and was tasked with supplying soldiers that traveled up the Burma Road. Receiving various medals, he was discharged in December 1945, having served two years, four months, and 26 days in India.
A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. today at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. Danny Burks and Bro. Tommy Whaley officiating. Burial will be in Haughton Memorial Park with military honors.
Survivors include one brother, Earl Bray of Riddings, Calif.; two grandchildren, Sherman Daniel Bray (Jennifer) of Amory and David Wayne Bray of Amory; three great-grandchildren, Ashley, Austin and Aleisha Bray; and special friend and caretaker, Virginia Pearson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, Sherman Wayne Bray; two sisters, Mary Annie Kennedy and Grace Caldwell; and one brother, Burkett Benny Bray Jr.
Pallbearers will be Michael Pearson, Matthew Pearson, Joe Bagwell, Van Pearson, Phillip Pearson and Dan West.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

HOLLY SPRINGS – Ida Lee Watkins, 97, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at her daughter’s home in Holly Springs.
Services will be at noon Wednesday at Sims Chapel MB Church in Michigan City. Burial will be in the church cemetery. J.F. Brittenum & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Joe Jager
FALKNER – Joe Kenneth Jager, 78, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Community Hospice in Verona. He was born July 15, 1934, to John Karl Jager and Elizabeth Pauline Jarvis Jager. He was Catholic and a painter. He loved to fish and hunt. He also served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery. Ripley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy JoAnn Jager of Falkner; two daughters, Anna Lisa Smith (John) of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Elizabeth Diane Fraccastoro (J.J. Wright) of Southaven; one son, David Thomas Clark (Kathy) of North Pole, Alaska; one sister, Mary Piotrowicz (Jim) of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one brother, Richard Jager of Oklahoma City, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Peggy Egan (Mike), Mick Robertson, Rico Fraccastoro, Christian Fraccastoro, Robert Thompkins, Tiffany Davis and Michelle Davis; and eight great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Gabby, Daniel, Dylan, Nikki, Sage, Kyle and Xazier.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Clarise Siaz; and two brothers, Robert Jager and Johnny Jager.
Pallbearers will be J.J. Wright, John Smith, Rico Fraccastoro, Mick Robertson, Jackie Brooks and Ronnie Wright.

Annie Fisk
BRUCE – Annie Mae Fisk, 93, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at her home. She was born Sept. 30, 1919, in Calhoun City. She was a homemaker and a member of Church of God in Bruce.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce with Bro. Sherman Adams officiating and Bro. Robert Earl Alexander assisting. Burial will be in Mt. Comfort Cemetery in Bruce. Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Bernice Stone, Pearline Cervantes and Bertha Oliver, all of Bruce; one son, Dudley Clyde Fisk of Bruce; 31 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Columbus Frances Chaney and Mary Etta Clark Chaney; her husband, Willie Frank Fisk; three sons, Eddie Lee Fisk, William Paul Fisk and Joshua James Fisk; one daughter, Etta Lou Fisk; three brothers, William David Kendall, Robert Matthew Kendall and William Edward Chaney; and one sister, Bertha Kendall.

Sgt. Ryan Meeks
GUNTOWN – Sgt. Ryan Meeks, 31, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was currently serving in the U.S. Army after eignt years with two tours in Iraq. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Saltillo.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Waters Funeral Home with SMSGT Dewayne Eaves officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be in Saltillo Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Dalynn Meeks of Guntown; children, Blake, Savanna and Hunter, all of the home; parents, Kirk and Tina Meeks of Saltillo; grandmother, Corrine Herndon of Saltillo; sister, Allegra Meeks of Saltillo; brothers, Karter Meeks of Saltillo and Zachary Ross of Tupelo; aunt and uncle, Pat and Doug Thornton of Guntown; mother and father-in-law; grandmother and grandfather-in-law; brother and sister-in-law; cousins; and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Kelly Meeks, Rex Herndon, Dutch Blake and Beulah Eaves.

Billy Odle
GROVES, Texas – Billy “Red” Odle, 85, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012. He was born Feb. 4, 1927, in Randolph to Elmer Duff Odle and Mamie Hutchinson Odle. He was a resident of Groves, Texas, for 52 years. He worked as a carpenter and retired as an operator from Gulf Oil Refinery after 33 years of service.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Levington Funeral Home in Groves, Texas.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gladys Odle of Groves, Texas; two sons, Randy Odle (Amy) of Glendale, Calif., and Terry Paul Odle (Amy) of Beaumont, Texas; two daughters, Gwen Wiedner (David) and Linda Dillard (Kirk), both of Groves, Texas; four sisters, Mozelle Tutor, Ola Faye McMinn, Mary Lou Moore and Effie Mae Steward, all of Mississippi; five grandchildren, Clint Dillard (Cyndi), Ashley Walters (Josh), Lacy Powers (Richard), Jeremy Wiedner, Shelby Odle; three-great-grandchildren, Paisley Dillard, Blayne Dillard and Haidyn Powers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virgie Watkins; brother, Buster Odle; and sister, Idell Singleton.

WEST POINT – R.L. Walker, 63, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point.
