W.C. Wilson
PONTOTOC – W.C. Wilson died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at his home in Pontotoc. He was born May 10, 1930, in Union County to Nettie Gardon Wilson and Earnest Wilson.
A celebration of life service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Serenity/Autry Funeral Home Chapel in New Albany.
He is survived by five children, Josephine Wilson of Pontotoc, Varnessa Wilson of Chicago, Barnard and Earl Wilson of Union County, and Anthony Wilson of Memphis; 11 grandchildren, including Nikko, India, Kostana and Shakiel Wilson; and a host of great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ross Wilson and Alfred Graham; one sister, Virgie King; and nephews, Willie Alfred Graham Jr., Joe Wilson and Sammuel Wilson.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Edward Jones
TUPELO – Edward Jones died Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born March 5, 1946, to Fred and Hazel Jones.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at N.L. Jones Funeral Directors Chapel in Tupelo with the Rev. William Shack officiating. Burial will be in the Verona Cemetery.
Survivors include his special friend of 16 years, Onnie Hadin; one daughter, Rosealina Brown; two sons, Curtis Brown and Ed Brown; one stepson, James Brown; one goddaughter, Dee William; five sisters, Junita (Will) William, Marlean (Charles) Jones, Odela (Elmer) Thompkins, Mary Lavern Jones and Lou Mamie (Lewis) McCann; and two brothers, Richard (Jenny) Jones and James (Mickey) Jones.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today.

Marcelle Duncan
WEST POINT – Marcelle Camp Duncan, 88, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Calvert Funeral Home of West Point.
Jessica A. Jones
TUPELO – Jessica Sheree Altom Jones, 27, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, in Aberdeen as the result of a motor vehicle accident. A lifelong resident of Lee County, she was born May 21, 1985, in Tupelo to Steve Altom and Dora Sheree Chism Altom. She graduated from Tupelo High School in 2003, where she was active in school activities especially music. She attended the University of Mississippi and received her B.A. in Speech Pathology. She was employed by the North Pontotoc School District as a speech therapist until recently becoming a stay-at-home mom with her young children, Hayden and Zoey, who were the light of her life. Extremely talented, she was an exquisite canvas painter and fluent in music, playing the flute and piano. She had a beautiful smile, a contagious personality and loved life to the fullest. She was a member of Bissell Baptist Church and attended Doty Chapel Baptist Church.
A celebration of her life will be at 10 a.m. today at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Jim Manley officiating. Private burial will follow in Tupelo Memorial Park. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service and immediately afterward at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors, which is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her parents, Steve and Sheree Altom of Shannon; her children, Hayden and Zoey of the home; her grandmother, Betty Altom of Tupelo; one brother, Randy Gray of Amory; her fiancé, Nathan Sloan of Amory; and special friends, Shari Butler and Tami Scott.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Frank and Myrtis Chism, and Harold Altom.

Viola Hurdle
HOLLY SPRINGS – Viola Wilson Hurdle, 93, passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Alliance Healthcare of Holly Springs. She was a retired employee of Wurlitzer and a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Holly Springs.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Holly Springs.
She is survived by one son, James Edwin Hurdle (Carol) of Holly Springs; two daughters, Bonnie Hurdle Bynum (Dan) of Searcy, Ark., and Helen Hurdle Mason (James) of Holly Springs; one sister, Billie Ruth Carter (Charlie) of Holly Springs; three brothers, Robert Wilson Jr. and Odell Wilson (Dimples), both of Ashland, and Rudell Wilson (Dorothy) of Collierville, Tenn.; one niece that her family raised, Virginia Shaw of Ashland; seven grandchildren, Dana Bynum Mayton (Doyle), Pam Hurdle Tatum (Art), Robert “Robb” Harold Hurdle Jr. (Tonya), Marci Bynum Robertson (Jeff), Cammie Mason Clifton (Barry), Amy Bynum Burton (Brett) and Landy Hurdle (Donna); six great-grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Horace Hurdle; her son, Robert Harold Hurdle; and several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Verlene Patrick
SMITHVILLE – Verlene Walls Patrick, 75, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center in Amory. She was born March 7, 1937, in Nettleton to Roosevelt Hayden and Hattie Bell Walls. She was a member of Spruell Chapel United Methodist Church. She attended school in Nettleton. She was a former employee of Blue Bell Mfg. of Hatley as a seamstress. She excelled as a housewife, homemaker, mother and grandmother and was held in the highest esteem by her children and grandchildren. She was a master cook and enjoyed sharing large meals in her home with family members and friends. She truly enjoyed working with flowers and in her flower beds, watching television and being with her family and church members.
A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Spruell Chapel United Methodist Church in Smithville with the Rev. Jeffery Riddle officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope No. 2 Cemetery. Darden & Sons Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby Henry Patrick of Smithville; four sons, Harvey (Judy) Walton and Gary Patrick, both of Smithville, Elmer C. Walton of Palmetto and Kevin (Sherry) Patrick of Amory; one daughter, Lottie (Eric) Patrick Dillion of Smithville; two brothers, Robert Walton of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Roosevelt (Margie) Hatten of Plantersville; four sisters, Nettie (Gillie) Walton and Cilla (Willis) Walton, both of Grand Rapids, Suzette (James) Hughes of Verona and Helen Burks of Shannon; one brother-in-law, David (Betty) Cantrell of Grand Rapids; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by three children, one grandchild, three sisters and four brothers.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today and family hour from 5 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service at the church.

Ottis Tapley
PITTSBORO – Ottis Jackson Tapley, 83, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at Calhoun Health Services in Calhoun City. He was born March 8, 1929, in Calhoun County. He was a retired mechanic for Glenn Slacks Garment Factory and a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce with Bro. Pete Gregory officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery at Bruce. Parker Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Fannie Lou Pettit Tapley of Pittsboro; one daughter, Amy McInnis of Vardaman; two sons, Gary Tapley and Ottis Wayne Tapley, both of Pittsboro; six grandchildren, Gina Lancaster, Kenny McInnis, Jessica Goforth, Jennifer Tapley, Tina Baldwin and Jerry Tapley; 14 great- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Andrew Tapley and Harrit Zelma Willis Tapley; and two brothers, Odis Tapley and Rosco Tapley.

Gracie Edge
BOONEVILLE – Gracie Rena LaShay Edge, infant daughter of Patrick and Darlene Edge, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville.
Services will be at noon Wednesday at Victory Harvest Church in Booneville with Bro. Jimmy Edge and Bro. Larry Dillard officiating. Burial will be in the Willingham Family Cemetery. Kesler Funeral Home of Baldwyn is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her parents; two sisters, Alexis Edge and Madyson Baswell; two brothers, Jacob Edge and Michael Spencer II; her grandparents, Tina and Jimmy Baswell, Dena and Kenny Wallace; and her great-grandmother, Brenda Berryman.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Jimmy Wayne Edge.

Dorothy Akin
OLYMPIA, Wash. – Dorothy Young Akin, 87, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Quality Care Adult Family Home in Olympia, Wash. A former resident of Bruce, she attended Bruce Schools. She was a 1947 graduate of the University of Mississippi and a retired elementary school teacher. She was a member of the Visalia, Calif., First Baptist Church, the American Association of University Women and the Order of the Eastern Star.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce with Bro. Robert Earl Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Bruce Cemetery. Parker Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Joy (James) Young of Juneau, Alaska; two sons, Martin (Sue) Harding of Tumwater, Wash., and Roger Harding of Juneau, Alaska; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Harding; her second husband, John Akin; her parents, Hollie Young and Evelyn Fleming Young; a brother, Hollie Spencer Young; and two sisters, Mildred Walls and Grace Young.
Pallbearers will be Rocky Fleming, Chris Harding, Dr. Robert Keith Stevens, Evan Walls, Mark Walls, Alan Spencer Young, Jamey Young, Dr. Joseph Young and Stephen Young.

Fred Clement
BOONEVILLE – Fredrick Lee “Fred” Clement, 74, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at his home. He was born Jan. 16, 1938, in Lee County to Jess Miles Clement and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Easterling Clement. He owned and operated Clement Furniture Company, and he was the president of the Blackland Water Association. He was a United States Air Force veteran, and he attended Christ United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, bird hunting and mowing.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Walter Downs officiating. Burial will be in Blackland Cemetery.
He is survived by a son, Miles Clement (Tracy) of Booneville; a daughter, Michelle Ellenberg (Dean) of Booneville; a brother, Bud Clement (Faye) of Tupelo; a sister, Betty McNutt of Tupelo; four grandchildren, April Michelle Ellenberg, Samantha Clement and Kayleigh Clement, all of Booneville, and Brandon Stoop of Blue Springs; nieces and nephews, Cindy Carter (Paul), Amy Lindsey (Bud), Bill Kelly (Tammy), all of Booneville, Mike Dillard (Sherry) of Saltillo, Terry Dillard (Kathy) of Huntsville, Ala., and Jennifer Dillard Noel of Lakeland, Fla.; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Clement, on Aug. 14, 2011; his parents; a sister, Mary Nell Dillard; a nephew, Tony Clement; a brother-in-law, Roy McNutt; and a special friend, Sue Cole.

Avanelle Kilpatrick
FULTON – Avanelle Kilpatrick, 87, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012. She was born on June 6, 1925, to I.T. and Lilla Dickerson Grissom in Tupelo. She was a member of the Fulton Methodist Church. She was a beautician.
A private family memorial service will be at a later date. Burial will be in Hillcrest Masonic Cemetery. Senter Funeral Home of Fulton is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include sons, Sam Kilpatrick (Pat) of Belden, Bob Kilpatrick (Nancy) of Flagstaff, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

MANTACHIE – William “Bill” Strange, 84, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012. He was born on Nov. 23, 1928, to Noonan C. and Ida Elizabeth Lesley Strange in Fulton. He was a member of the Conference of the United Methodist Church and a retired Methodist minister.

CALHOUN CITY – Billy Ray, 68, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. He was born May 29, 1944, in Eupora. He was a retired truck driver for Binswanger Mirror Co. in Mississippi.

Carrie Bramlitt
PONTOTOC – Carrie Sue Bramlitt, 95, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at her home. She was born Sept. 24, 1917, in Union County to William and Ethel Pannell. She married Owen Neal Bramlitt on March 13, 1936. They were married until his death in 1990. She was a longtime member of Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church, which she loved dearly. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church. Bro. Jackie Whitley and Bro. Johnny Cook will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ecru City Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one son, Richard Bramlitt of Pontotoc; five daughters, Ethelene Goggins (Winfred) of Olive Branch, Joyce Stubblefield (Paul), Doris Russell (John), Sandra Austin (Jerry) and Seretha Gregory (Curtis), all of Pontotoc; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a son, Leonard Bramlitt; a sister, Catherine Grubbs; a brother, Roy Pannell; a half sister, Faye Thomas; a half brother, Travis Pannell; two grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Neal Russell, Stacy Russell, Kelly Stewart, Carlisle Stubblefield, Brad Stubblefield and John Ray McCord.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Powell, Jimmy Foreman, Bobby May, Jim Harrison and Troy Bramlitt.

Mary Murphy
BOONEVILLE – Mary Lee Murphy, 89, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. She was born Sept. 2, 1923, to Albert and Elsie Pate Harper. She worked for Brown Shoe Manufacturing. After retiring, she became the baby sitter and cook for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many other children.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jim Hicks, Bro. Larry Hill and Bro. Russell Lormand officiating. Burial will be in Cain’s Chapel Cemetery.
She is survived by four daughters, Debra (Johnny) Lindley of Booneville, Kathy Burns of Ripley, Jannie (Roundle) McVey and Robbie (Ronny) McCoy, both of Booneville; two sons, Jimmy (Martha “Jackie”) Murphy and Skippy Murphy, both of Booneville; 27 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Murphy; two sons, John Wayne Murphy and Larry Mitchell Murphy; two sisters; three brothers; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

UNITY – Billy Joseph Hunt, 67, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at the Veterans Home in Oxford. He was a former member of the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of JESCO and FMC, and a former insurance agent for Combine Insurance. He enjoyed writing poetry, drawing and playing checkers.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Waters Funeral Home in Baldwyn with Bro. Eddie Boutwell officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Brenda Ann Franks Hunt of Unity; sons, Johnny Ray Hunt (Michelle) of Hattiesburg and Terry Wayne Hunt (Karen Bell) of Endville;’daughter, Theresa Ann Hunt Gibbs (Patrick Wayne) of Chehalis, Wash.; brothers, Barry Daniel Hunt Sr. (Brenda) and Tommy D. Hunt (Joyce), both of Columbus; sister, Addie Beth Hunt Johnson (Earl) of Eldridge, Ala.; grandchildren, Taylor Rae Hunt, Mary Elise Hunt, Peyton McKenna Gibbs, Lara Elizabeth Adams, Tiffany Wilcox Gibbs and Cerra Kaylin Gibbs; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Hunt Sr. and Inez Tucker Hunt; brothers, Robert Hunt and Ralph Hunt Jr.; and sister, Becky Pratt.

HOLLY SPRINGS – Marjorie Walls Holts, 65, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Zion CME Church in Ashland. Burial will be in the church cemetery. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home of Holly Springs is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home with the family present from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The body will lie in repose at the church from noon to 12:55 p.m. Wednesday.

IUKA – Lawrence Lee Wood, 71, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at his residence.
