Robert Warren
BALDWYN – Robert E. “Big Boy” Warren, 79, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born Sept. 14, 1931, to Pauly Harvell and Elizabeth Warren-Scales. He was a member of Sandhill M.B. Church in Baldwyn. He was employed by Hayes and JESCO Construction Companies for many years.
Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sandhill M.B. Church in Baldwyn with the Rev. Danny Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Agnew & Sons Funeral of Baldwyn is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Jaquelyn Parker of McKinney, Texas, Robin Warren-Pfeier of Indianapolis, Ind., and LaPhaun Price of Baldwyn: four sons, John Price of Baldwyn, John Wesley Scales of Corinth, Michael (Connie) Agnew of Tupelo and Vito Warren of Jackson, Tenn.; 33 grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Jeanette Warren of Baldwyn: a special nephew, John Stanley Warren of Baldwyn; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 11 siblings.
Visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. today with the family hour from 5 to 6 p.m. today. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service.

OKOLONA – James H. Huggins, 49, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, at his home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Zion Springs M.B. Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Westbrooks Funeral Home of Aberdeen is in charge of the arrangements.

BALDWYN – Grace Fortner, 78, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was retired from Lucky Star Industries. She enjoyed fishing, music, doll collecting and spending time with her family. She was Church of God faith.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Pentecostal Faith Church in Red Bay, Ala., with Bro. Jimmy Massey officiating. Burial will be in Hill Crest Memorial Cemetery. Kesler Funeral Home of Baldwyn is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Judy Credille (Ray) of Belmont, Linda Scott (Butch) of Guntown and Shelia Barrett (Dorce) of Booneville; two sons, David Elrod (Brenda) of Red Bay and Tim Elrod of Baldwyn; seven sisters, Azalie Massey, Dessie Dees, Jessie Cleveland and Pearline Garrison, all of Red Bay, Emma Dietz (Mark) of Houston, Texas, Wilma Darby (Rodger) of Mooreville and Evaline Lovette (Gene) of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; two brothers, Z.L. Vick (Joyce) of Red Bay and Oneil Vick (Jan) of Hamilton, Ala.; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hob and Rose Vick; one sister, Bessie Young; and one granddaughter, Pam Elrod.
Pallbearers will be Ken Elrod, Steven Floyd, T.J. Elrod, Randy Credille, Jamie Credille, Chuck Scott and Doug Hannock.

Lillian Estes
TUPELO – Lillian “Sissy” Reedy Estes died Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at Avonlea Assisted Living and Retirement Community. A lifelong resident of Tupelo, she was born March 4, 1914, to Newsom Luther and Purney Lee Scribner Reedy. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class. A graduate of Tupelo High School, she was employed with Malone and Hyde and retired after 25 years as manager of the Quality Stamp Store. During her employment, she received numerous recognition awards for her exemplary performance. She loved spending time with her family and friends, who appreciated her contagious joyful spirit.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. David Jensen and Dr. Gayle Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include four sisters, Geneva Collins of Tupelo, Glynn Servis of Albuquerque, N.M., Peggy Curtis (John) of Selmer, Tenn., and Barbara Prude (Cooper) of Tupelo; one brother, John Reedy (Merlene) of Tupelo; one brother-in-law, William “Dub” Cross of Tupelo; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 42 years, Walter M. Estes; her son, William Reedy “Bill” Estes; one sister, Dessie Cross; and three brothers, Clyde Reedy, Dewey Reedy and Bill Reedy.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, Roger Reedy, Sam Reedy, Tom Collins, Steve Cross, Butch Godwin, Stanley Reedy, Paul Reedy, Steve Urist, Kelly Cofer and Dyer Garner.

Wanda Collins
VERONA – Wanda Collins, 38, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, at Community Hospice at Darlington Oaks after an extended illness. A native of Texas, she was born April 22, 1972, to Billy Cornelius and Debbie Collins. She enjoyed reading and eating popcorn.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her four children, Brittany Corbell and Troy Collins of Plantersville, and Rebekah and Ronald Mathers of Iowa; her brother and two sisters, Billy Joe, Maggie and Angel.

Matthew Montgomery
SHANNON – Matthew Montgomery died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at his home. He was a resident of Shannon for many years. He was a member of the Church of the Living God in Christ, but he attended services at St. John M.B. Church. He was a member of the Elks Masonic Lodge and the Sunlight Mason Lodge 291 in Blue Springs. His hobbies included riding motorcycles and shooting pool. He was the founder of the “Cobra Club” motorcycle riders.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Tupelo with the Rev. David R. Walker officiating. Burial will be in Porter’s Memorial Cemetery. N.L. Jones & Son Funeral Directors of Tupelo is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Ruby Montgomery; two daughters, Katina (Larry) Brown and Natessa Guyton; two sons, Marquette Guyton and Chicko Copeland; eight additional children; more than 50 grandchildren; 10 brothers and three sisters; and his father; James Montgomery.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Onie Hudson; his grandparents, Elder Genera Hancock and Otis Hancock; an uncle, Chester Hancock.

Kenneth Gann
NEW SITE – Kenneth Lee Gann, 84, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born Oct. 12, 1925, in Prentiss County to Clee and Luna Stacy Gann. He was a member of New Bethel Church of Christ and a farmer. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and watching basketball.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Allen Line Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Harris Gann; one son, Terry Gann of Tupelo; one brother, C.A. (Estelle) Gann of Corinth; one granddaughter, Elizabeth (Josh) Gann-Harris; two great-granddaughters, Aryanna and Victoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 12 siblings.
Pallbearers will be Randy Crabb, Danny Smith, Larry Green, Joe Bishop, Barry Hobson and Ken Wood. Honorary pallbearer will be Chad Carwile.
Visitation will be until service time today at the funeral home.

Roy Witt
VERONA – Roy Witt, 58, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at his residence after an extended illness. A Lee County native, he was born June 18, 1952, to Hill and Geneva Wilson Witt. He married Linda Suddieth on May 16, 1975. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved his dog, Princess, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Danny Rushing officiating. Burial will be in Verona Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Linda Witt of Verona; one daughter, Peggy Sue Witt of Booneville; one sister, Joyce Ann Witt of Plantersville; niece and special caregiver, Jamie Phillips (Shane) of Mantachie.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Geneva W. Wright, and his father, Hill Witt; two brothers, Danny Ray Witt and Robert Lee Witt.
Pallbearers will be Terry Maxcy, Shane Phillips, James Johnson and Bobby Williams.

BYHALIA – Ruedell Parker, 79, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, at home in Byhalia.

OXFORD – Alfreda Price Cannon, 59, died Friday, Sept. 24, 2010.

Johnny Hoskins
ABERDEEN – Johnny C. Hoskins, 52, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at the University Medical Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Daniel M.B. Church in Aberdeen. Burial will be in the Greater Ebernezer Cemetery. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of the arrangements.

Kenneth Lipsey
ECRU – Warren Kenneth Lipsey, 65, died Monday. Sept. 27, 2010, at Community Hospice at Darlington Oaks in Verona. He was a native of Pontotoc County. He was a longtime employee of Brookwood Furniture Company in Pontotoc. His hobbies were hunting, gardening and riding his four-wheeler. He loved his red F-150 Ford trucks and his guns.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home. Rev. Terry Baber will officiate. Burial will be in Ware Cemetery. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by two daughters, Minister Reba Carruth and Francine (Derrick) Quinn, both of Pontotoc; one son, Michael Lipsey of Okolona; two sisters, Lillie Mae Hobson of Pontotoc and Annie Smith of Bruce; one brother, Ray Lipsey of Pontotoc; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Kelly and Mattie C. Lipsey; and three brothers, two sisters and one nephew.
Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home with family present from 6 to 7 p.m.

Lavenia McDonald
PONTOTOC – Lavenia McDonald, 81, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at Sunshine Health Care in Pontotoc. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. She attended Hurricane School, where she played basketball. She was retired from the Tallant Cotton Warehouse in Pontotoc and provided childcare in her home. She loved caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always ready for visits from them and always ready to feed an army. She enjoyed cooking teacakes, chocolate gravy and biscuits, and chicken and dumplings, and always trying to make her mom’s coconut cake.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Browning Funeral Home in Ecru with Rev. David Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Ecru is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Eurie McDonald of Pontotoc; her children, James Douglas Blagg Jr. (Onieda Battle) of Boston, Mass., Danny McDonald (Linda Gail), Lanny McDonald (Pam) and Gary McDonald (Kay), all of Pontotoc; her daughter-in-law, Phyllis Blagg of Fulton; 15 grandchildren, Misty Blagg (Billy), Storm Mackey (David), Gavan de Lance Blagg (Simone), Steven Blagg (Aphilak), Jamie Rae Blagg, Kaelas Blagg, Jimmy McDonald (Vikki), Tina Johnson (Kenneth), Chris Russell (Paige), Russ McDonald (Karen), Alicia Andrews (Cole), Drew McDonald, Danielle McDonald, Karin McDonald and Jacob McDonald; 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, L.J. and Gertrude Tucker Andrews; her brothers, Levester B. Andrews, Herbert “Hub” Andrews and Billy Andrews; a son, Gary Delance Blagg; two great-grandchildren, Thunder Mackey and A.J. Robinson.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Lance Blagg, Steven Blagg, Russ McDonald, Drew McDonald, Chris Russell, Jacob McDonald and Jimmy McDonald.

HOLLY SPRINGS – Charlie Shead, 102, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at the Golden Living Center in Southaven.

ETTA – Annie Laura Bolden, 86, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, at the Union County Health and Rehab in New Albany. She was born Oct. 17, 1923, in Marshall County. She was a former employee of Coated Abrasives and a Methodist.
Services were Tuesday, Sept. 28, at Salem United Methodist Church in Etta with Dr. Bryan Collier and Dr. Steve Nelson officiating. Burial was in the Salem Methodist Cemetery in Etta. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Gregory (Sam) of Tupelo and Judy Collier (Charles) of Etta; her grandchildren, Tracey Gregory, Julie Weems (Richard), Bryan Collier (Wendy), Jason Collier and Slate Collier (Anna); her great-grandchildren, Olivia and Houston Collier, Kent and Sydney Collier, and Patrick and Bryant Weems; three sisters, Charlene Gill and Barbara Sue Smith, both of Slayden, and Velma Wilburn of Ashland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lilburn Bolden, and her parents, Charlie Cothern and Gertrude Mackey.

Eunice Johnson
RIPLEY – Eunice Murley Johnson, 93, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. The first of 12 children, she was born March 30, 1917, in Tippah County Robert Hamilton and Nina Mae Wallis Murley. She retired from Biltrite Corp. and enjoyed caring for small children for several years following her retirement. She and her family were charter members of Christ United Methodist Church in Ripley. Her true calling was teaching and mentoring children, but she was also a lay speaker and served in many elected and appointed positions within the church and the district.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley with the Rev. Scott Falgout officiating. Burial will be in New Prospect Cemetery in Ripley.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Pumphrey of Ripley; one son, Ronnie Johnson (Trish) of Tupelo; four grandchildren, Melanie Tutor (Nathan), Chris Burks (Brett), Marty Windham (Valerie) and Marc Windham (Lindsey); eight great-grandchildren, Rachel and Rebecca Tutor, Bryson and Wesley Burks, Kiersten Windham, Emilee Nall, Blaine and McKayla Welker; four sisters, Hazel Huneycutt, Eula Bryan, Evelyn Johnson and Linda Bishop (Curtis); five brothers, Pascal “Pat” Murley, Dennis Murley (Peggy), E.J. Murley (Annie), Archie Murley (Linda) and Harold Murley (Joyce); two sisters-in-law, Lela Mae Johnson and Mardell Murley Nance; and friends, Rachel Michael, and Beverly, Heath and Tom Moffitt.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Euclid Harold Johnson; her parents; and two brothers, Breland and Leland “Red” Murley.
Pallbearers will be Marty Windham, Marc Windham, Brett Burks, Nathan Burks, Phillip Bronson and Troy Stanford. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryson Burks, Wesley Burks and Blaine Welker.

WEST POINT – Katie Lue Curry, 80, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus.

Paul E. James
OXFORD – Paul E. James, 78, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at Graceland Care Center of Oxford. He was born in Tallahatchie County. He started working at Levy’s Jitney Jungle in Oxford at the age of 13. In 1989, he purchased the store and began operating it as James Food Center. He was an active member and deacon of North Oxford Baptist Church. He loved music, traveling, fishing and hunting, especially duck hunting. An avid Ole Miss fan, he attended every football game from 1968 to 2005.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at North Oxford Baptist Church with Rev. Annette Ford and Bro. Allen Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Alice Mize (Dee) of Oxford, Barbara Gafford (Ray) of New Albany and Pam Harris (Joe) of Bemidji, Minn.; his companion, Peggy Keel of Coldwater; one brother, Herman Henry James Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Jean Williams James; a sister, Dartha Lou Campbell; and a brother, George Leo James.

GOLDEN – Herbert Green Pharr, 77, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, at Sanctuary Hospice House. He was born June 8, 1933, in Mississippi to Carl and Sadie Sharp Pharr. He was a factory worker and formerly an employee of Sparko. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont. Burial will be in Old Bethel Cemetery at Golden. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are three sons, Herbert Dean Pharr and Dennis Gene Pharr (Lisa), all of Golden, and Dale Lesley Pharr (Sandra) of Belmont; four sisters-in-law, Edath McDowell of Sherman, Nadine Waddle of Fulton, and Betty Lindsey and Cathy McAlister, both of Golden; three brothers-in-law, Paul Taylor of Liberty, Leland Taylor of Sherman and Troyce James Taylor of Golden; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laverne Pharr; a grandson, Chris Pharr; and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Pharr.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and until service time Saturday at Deaton Funeral Home in Belmont.
