HORN LAKE – Joe Herman Jones, 85, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Golden Living Center in Southaven.
Service is at 10 a.m. Tuesday at McBride Funeral Home in Ripley. Burial is at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Walnut.

ECRU – Melissa Ann Churchill, 36, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany. She was born on April 22, 1976, in Humphreys County, Fla. She was a member of Victory Life Pentecostal Church in New Albany.
Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Victory Life Pentecostal Church with Bro Mark Bishop and Bro. Timmy Harris officiating. Burial is at Lebanon Cemetery in Ripley. McBride Funeral Home in Ripley is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her father, Fred Monroe Churchill Sr. of Ecru; brother, Fred Monroe Churchill Jr.; and sisters, Tonya and Tosha Churchill, both of Rising Sun, Md.
She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Rebecca Jean Mardis Churchill; brother, Little James “Preacher” Churchill’ and grandparents, Clyde Mardis Sr., Charlene Mardis, Francis Little and Bud Little.
Pallbearers are Josh Copeland, Daniel Winkles, Blake Mardis, Marvin Mardis, Matt Stilwell and Tim Moody.
Visitation is at 11 a.m. today and will continue until service time Wednesday at Victory Life Pentecostal Church.

Mae Hill
BEECH SPRINGS – Lottie Mae Hill, 90, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at her daughter’s residence near Guntown. She was born Aug. 25, 1922, in Rienzi, to Edward and Lois Annie Vanderford. She was raised in Rienzi and had been a long time resident of the Beech Springs Community. She was married to Ozell Hill, who preceded her in death, Jan. 1, 1995. She was a homemaker and was an avid flower gardener and especially enjoyed growing Daylilies in her flower gardens. She enjoyed watching Unity T.V. and baby sitting her grandchildren. She was a charter member of Beech Springs Freewill Baptist Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Sammy Lansdell officiating. Burial will be in Beech Springs Cemetery.
Survivors include three children, Sandra Post (Robert) of Tupelo, Gail Palmer (Charles) of Guntown and Judy Sheffield (Danny O.) of Mantachie; one sister, Katie Stanford of Tupelo; eight grandchildren, Terran Letson (David) of Unity Community, Chuck, Nathan, and Tammy Palmer, all of Guntown, Ruth Ann Davidson (Mark) of Pratts Community, Ester Harris (Josh) of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Derek (Tonya) and Jacob Sheffield, both of Manachie; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Nancy Smith; and six siblings, Ruth Robinson, Christine Davis, Morris Vanderford, Earl, Amos and Bill Vanderford.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in Saltillo.

Danny Netterville
HOUSTON – Danny Ray Netterville, 53, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at his home. He was born Nov. 26, 1958, in Centerville, to John Henry Netterville and Jewell MarieTruitt Netterville. He was a supervisor for Parks and Parks.
Services are at 2 p.m. today at Houston Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Hinton officiating. Burial will follow at Ellzey Cemetery in Vardaman.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Sullivan Netterville of Houston; his daughters, Danyelle (Jay) Sterkel of Houston, Angel (Sam) Oswalt of Houston and Leigh Ann Barnett of Houston; his son, Brandon (Kathryn) Barnett of Eupora; his sisters, Barbara (David) Coleman of Houston and Rochelle (Darris) Coleman of Houston; his brother, Bruce (Sharron) Netterville of Denham Springs, La.; and his grandchildren, Blake Sterkel, Luke Oswalt, Grant Barnett, Jayden Weaver and Cameron Kilgore.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry Netterville and Jewell Marie Truitt Morrison; and his brother, Craig Netterville.

Jimmy Smith
OKOLONA – Jimmy Smith, 80, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born in Chickasaw County on Oct. 29, 1931, to Henry Howard and Ruby Jernigan Smith. He attended Egypt School and graduated from Okolona High School. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He spent most of his adult life in Berien Springs, Mich., where he worked for 45 years in the automobile parts industry, retiring as maintenance supervisor and returning home to Okolona. A member of the Boone’s Chapel United Methodist Church, his great passion was watching sports, especially the Atlanta Braves and Detroit Tigers.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Okolona Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with the Rev. Dr. Wallace “Wally” Cason III officiating. Burial will follow in Boone’s Chapel Cemetery.
He is survived by his stepson, Carl Gene Johnson (Linda) of Berien Center, Mich.; brothers, Johnny Smith (Dena) of Gibson, Charles Smith (Effie Mae) and Billy Smith (Toshiko), all of Okolona; grandchildren, Karla and Brian; great-grandchildren, Alex, Austin, Karissa, Kyle and Adam; several nieces and nephews; and friends from Mended Hearts at the NMMC Wellness Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Ruby Kay Smith in 1999; and sister, Dorothy Jean Durham.
Pallbearers will be Brian Johnson, Chris Porter, Henry Smith, David Smith, Richard Starling and James “Jimbo” Corley.
Visitation is 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the Okolona Chapel.

Dan Thompson Jr.
RANDOLPH – Royce Dan Thompson Jr., 24, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, in Lee County. He attended Thaxton United Pentecostal Church and had just been baptized Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012. He was very close to his twin brother, George, and where you saw one, you saw both of them. He loved sports, especially football.
Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc with Tim Barber and Matt Bennett officiating. Burial is in Buchanan Cemetery.
He is survived by his father, Royce Dan Thompson Sr. (Bonnie); mother, Georgie Ann Fallin (Richard); brother, George Howard Thompson; grandmother, Gladys Margaret Vance; stepsisters, Ariana, Kerri (Dustin), Rose, Twanda (Phillip), Eugenia (Dale) and Karen (Bart); stepbrothers, Al and Ricky (Gail); many nieces, nephews and cousins; aunts, Connie Beasley, Peggy Tanner (Johnnie), Margaret Bolton (B.J.) and Debbie Thompson (Charles); and uncles, Greg Thompson (Ann), Buck Thompson (Tonya) and Ronnie Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, George Howard Vance; and grandmother, Thelma Thompson.
Pallbearers are Greg Thompson, Buck Thompson, Ronnie Thompson, Pat Thompson, J.R. Reed, and Gary Fallin. Honorary pallbearer is Phillip Brooks.
Visitation is 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday.

John Tutor Sr.
GLEN – John Wayne Tutor Sr., 72, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Magnolia Regional Health Center.
Services are at 2 p.m. today at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Military Honors. Interment is at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

Carol Skelton
SALTILLO – Carol Jean Skelton, 68, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at her residence. She was born in Ashland, Aug. 10, 1944, to Clarence Jordan and Addie Mae Walker. She resided most of her early years in Ashland and was a graduate of Ashland High School. She worked for over 20 years with Wurlitzer Piano Co. in Holly Springs. Later she worked for over 20 years as a photographer with PCA Studios in Walmart on North Gloster. She loved growing flowers and spending time with her family and friends. She was known for her exceptional cooking and enjoyed cooking for others. A long time member of Mayfield Church of Christ, she was active in her ministry to others and was active with church visitations.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Mayfield Church of Christ with Minister Adam Miller officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in Ashland Church of Christ Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors are in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen C. Skelton (Chris) of Holly Springs and Michael E. Skelton (Kerri) of Saltillo; one brother, Don Jordan of Augusta, Ga.; and six grandchildren, Tiffany N. Kiddy of Oxford, Stephanie L. Skelton of Jackson, Charles B. Skelton of Oxford, Madison B. Skelton of Saltillo, Ashlee T. Thompson of Saltillo and Lynsey J. Skelton of Saltillo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Alton, Raybon, Gary and Lanny Jordan.

James Pruitt
BOONEVILLE – James Elton Pruitt, 77, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born Jan. 2, 1935, in Prentiss County, to Harvey and Tavie Selby Pruitt. He was a home builder and a member of Gaston Baptist Church. He was a United States Army veteran and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed gardening, growing flowers and going to church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Matt Brown officiating. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia H. Pruitt; a daughter, Annice Guin (Rickey) of Booneville; three sisters, Dolly Grimes (Rickey) of Bartlett, Tenn., Joyce Smith of Ga., and Joann Burns (Stanley) of Booneville; two brothers, Charles Pruitt of Germantown, Tenn., and Billy Nicholson (Brenda) of Baldwyn; two grandchildren, Stephanie Owens (James) and Jamie Pruitt, both of Booneville; two great-grandchildren, Mollie Boren and Maggie Boren of Booneville; two special cousins, Mildred Bennett (Lee) of Germantown, Tenn., and Eulon Pruitt (Fay) of Belmont; and very special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Ruth Carol Pruitt; a brother, Lee Roy Pruitt; and two sisters, Ruth Pruitt and Sarah Franks.

BOONEVILLE – Therman Saylors, 71, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Mormon Cemetery.

Bessie Sanders
FALKNER – Bessie Sanders, 75, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at her residence in Falkner. She was born May 8, 1937, to Albert and Ruth Williams Sides. She was a Baptist and a homemaker.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Onnie Ralph officiating. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery.
She is survived by four daughters, Mary Surber (Kevin) and Margie Stafiej, both of Falkner, Hazel Parvin (Rickey) of Walls and Linda Sanders of Ripley; three sons, William Sanders (Deb) of Walnut, Thomas Sanders of Falkner and Rickey Sanders (Lisa) of Horn Lake; 17 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren; one sister, Irene Wilbanks of Booneville; and one brother, Walter Sides (Ruth) of Ripley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Truman Sanders; one sister, Earlene Beard; and four brothers, Earl, William, Leroy and Garfield Sides.
Pallbearers will be Scotty Hensley, Ray Sanders, Adam Parvin, Michael Hodge, Jason Hodge, Drew Carter and Jerry Sanders. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Sides, Dennis Dickey, Keith Dickey and Stephen Sides.

Pauline Ryan
UNITY – Gracie Pauline Ryan, 83, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at her residence. She was a retired employee of Rockwell and a Baptist. She enjoyed watching and feeding humming birds.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Ray Guin and Douglas Kitchens officiating. Burial will be in the Kirkville Cemetery.
Survivors include daughters, Shelia West (Junior) and Sherry Herring (Jackie), both of Guntown; sons, Ronnie Ryan (Bonnie) of Fulton and Donny Ryan of Baldwyn; seven grandchildren, Craig Ryan, Heather Gassaway (Darrell), Eric Ryan, Mandy Ryan, Chad West (Beth), Penny Kendall (Gerald) and Angie Herring; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Zelda Mille; husband, James Ryan; sisters, Gladys Mills, Ruby Bennett and Ruthie Hood; and brothers, Robby and Bobby Mills.
