Marshall Baker III
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – John Marshall III passed away Sept. 5, 2012, In San F r a n c i s c o, Calif. He was born on April 22, 1959, in Woodland, Ala., to John and Sara Baker.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at East Heights Assembly of God at 1921 Briar Ridge Road in Tupelo.
Survivors include his parents, John and Sara Baker of Verona; a sister, Debbie Baker-Dean; and a brother, Stanley Baker.

Grace Davis
MOOREVILLE – Grace Levi Davis, twelve days old, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at the Jackson University Hospital in Jackson. She is the daughter of Marty and Shawna Davis of Mooreville and little sister to Hailee. Services are incomplete and will be announced later by W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors.

Walter Calmes
TUPELO – Walter Frank Calmes died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was a member of Spring Hill M.B. Church.
He was a 1958 graduated of George Washington Carver High School where he played football, basketball and baseball. He was an United States Army veteran.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:30 Tuesday at the Spring Hill M.B. Church with the Rev. Gary Long Sr. officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be at the Porter’s Memorial Park following the service. Grayson-Porter’s Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Autrey Jean Calmes of Tupelo; one son, Terence Calmes of Pennsylvania; one sister, Luerine Calmes; one brother, Johnnie (Christine) Calmes, both of Tupelo; his brother-in-law, John (Ruby) Jackson of Tupelo; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Calmes and Estella Carr Calmes; one sister, Elizabeth Ray; and one nephew,Alvin Calmes.
Viewing will be at 1:30 until service time Tuesday at the Spring Hill M.B. Church.

BALDWYN – Robert Gumm, 82, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center.

Clyde Gann
BOONEVILLE – Robert Clyde Gann Sr., 86, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Graceland Care Center in New Albany. He was born Jan. 16, 1926, in Prentiss County, to Robert and Molly Annie Grissom Gann. He was a member of Hills Chapel Church of Christ. He was a salesman at Booneville Hardware for over 30 years. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Casteel and Bro. Larry Harrison officiating.
Burial will be in Martin Hill Cemetery.
He is survived by a son, Junior Gann (Kay) of Mooreville; three daughters, Ann Northcutt (Jim) of Booneville, Rita Casteel (Bobby) of Blue Springs and Jane Smith (Richard) of Etta; three sisters, Mary Nell Rogers of Florida, Eloise Robinson of Arkansas and Rada Sue Caldwell of Booneville; three stepsons, Jimmy Greene (Brandi) of Corinth, Barney Green (Jan) of Glen and Eddie Greene (Trish) of Belmont; a stepdaughter, Linda Perry (Pete) of Rienzi; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and 11 step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Verda Mae Taylor Gann; his second wife, Mittie Parham Gann; two daughters, Linda Mae Gann and Sharon Hatfield; his parents; three grandchildren, Tommy Shook, David Northcutt and Robert S. Gann; and a step-grandson, Chad Greene.
Pallbearers are Brad Gann, Kenny Gann, Stevie Wilemon, Joey Hatfield, Mark Harrison, and Richard Smith.

Elaine Brackeen
DENNIS – Avis Elaine Brackeen, 97, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Tishomingo Manor in Iuka. She was born Jan. 20, 1915, in Mingo, to
James Ernest and Anna Mae Abbott Quillen. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was retired from Blue Bell. She was a resident of Tishomingo Manor in Iuka for the last eight years. She was a former member of the Eastern Star.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, in Belmont, with Bro. Ralph Culp officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery in Dennis.
Survivors are four children, Luther “L.W.” Brackeen (Joann) of Fulton, Ernest Brackeen (Judy) of Memphis, Vicky Thatcher (Sam) of Riverview, Fla., and Ann Parrish (Thomas) of Dennis; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Brackeen; her parents, the Rev. Ernest and Mae Quillen; a grandson, Jamie Brackeen; a brother, James Quillen; and a sister, Ida Bell Vandevander.
Visitation is 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Deaton Funeral Home.

Essie Spight
TIPLERSVILLE – Essie “Sal” Spight, 71, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at her home. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced

Lewis Stafford
WREN – Lewis P. Stafford, 77, died on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at Darlington Oaks Community Hospice in Verona. He was born on Sept. 9, 1935, in Itta Bena, to Paul J. and Connie Redd Stafford. He attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Okolona. He retired from American Motor Company, in Kenosha Wis., after 30 years of service. He was a very humble man, a hard worker and had a very strong work ethic. He enjoyed listening to country music, watching westerns, especially the Lone Ranger, and tinkering with his stuff.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Haughton Memorial Park with Bro. Jerry Aldridge officiating.
Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. for the service.
E.E. Pickle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years, Helen Smith Stafford of Wren; daughters, Debra Johannsen (Jeffery) of Grayslake, Ill., and Diane Aldridge (Tim) of New Albany; son, Michael Stafford (Jacqueline)
of Waukegan, Ill.; sisters, Margaret Sanders (Harold) of Becker and Faye Jordan (Bobby) of Amory; grandchildren, Isabella Stafford, Leyton Johannsen, Alexzandra Stafford, and Katelyn Aldridge; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Paul Stafford.
