PHEBA – Vallie Ree Washington Davidson, 71, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Third Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church with burial in West Point Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. Monday at Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel.
VERONA – Estelle Crawford Mattox, 94, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice House after a two-year illness. She lived at Traceway’s Cedars and Laney Green House for nearly two years. She was born Dec. 30, 1917, in Williston, Tenn., to W.C. and Kathleen Gaither Crawford. She had lived in Verona since 1944. A graduate of Fayette County High School in Somerville, Tenn., she attended Lambuth College in Jackson, Tenn., then taught many years at Rossville, Tenn., School.
On Dec. 24, 1939, she married Milton Mattox, moved to Mississippi, and except for a brief time in Alabama, spent the rest of her life in her beloved adopted state of Mississippi. She thoroughly enjoyed her life as a housewife and mother, and cooking and gardening were her favorite activities. She spent many years in a home child care business, as well as 15 years as a substitute mail clerk for the Verona Post Office. She was a very active member of the Verona United Methodist Church. She was a long-time member of the Adult Bible Class and OWLS senior group.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with the Rev. Dennis Fink officiating. Private burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn Riddle of Williamsburg, Va.; her son, Edwin W. “Ed” Mattox Sr. (Jane) of Brewer; and her daughter, Cecile Hines (Bill) of Tupelo; two sisters-in-law, Ruby C. Crawford of Austin, Texas, and Evelyn M. Love of Franklin, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Brian Riddle of Newport News, Va., Kevin (Karen) Riddle of Charlottesville, Va., Lisa Riddle of Miami Beach, Fla., Craig Riddle of Roanoke, Va., Edwin W. “Eddie” Mattox Jr. of Alexandria, Va., Mary Stewart (Jason) of Saltillo and Kimberly “Kim” Kavalsky (Ben) of Starkville; two step-granddaughters, Tammie Wilson (Randy) and Roxanne Rogers (Mike); great-grandchildren, Riley Stewart, Naomi Riddle, Stella Kavalsky and Helen Riddle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Milton; her parents; two brothers, Francis and Harrison Crawford; and a son-in-law, Ed Riddle.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Riddle, Craig Riddle, Eddie Mattox, Jason Stewart, Ben Kavalsky and Ken Young.
Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m. today and 12:30 p.m. to service time Sunday.

CHEROKEE, Ala. – Ora Maebel Tatum Randolph, 96, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at Shoals Hospital in Muscle Shoals, Ala. She was born July 23, 1916, to Auzzie F. Tatum and Amanda Glissen Tatum. She was a Methodist and a homemaker. She grew up in Shiloh Methodist Church.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. today at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Webster Wade officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery.
She is survived by a nephew, Dale Tatum (Lisa) of Smyrna, Tenn., and several nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Richard Gillum Randolph.

PONTOTOC – Frank Hutcheson, 81, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at the Veterans Home in Oxford. He was born July 2, 1931, to Fred and Laura Hutcheson. He retired from the Air Force as a Tech Sergeant after 21 years. He was an air fueler on B52s in China, Vietnam, Korea and Germany. He loved fishing, camping, cars and being with family. He was a former commander of the American Legion Post and district commander and chaplain of the Pontotoc VFW and a lifetime member of the DAV. He was a member of Center Hill Baptist Church.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Brandon Murphree and Bro. Stark Aldridge officiating. Burial will follow in the Center Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Billie McCraw Hutcheson of Pontotoc; a son, Chris Hutcheson (Mary Lise) of Pontotoc; grandchildren, Christopher Hutcheson (Kelly) of Pontotoc and Mallore Biffle (Trae) of Pontotoc; great-grandson, Daniel Hutcheson of Pontotoc; stepson, Billy Dale McCraw (Linda) of Victoria; stepgrandchildren, Travis McCraw (Ambra) of Oxford, Shelly Sanders of Victoria, Janet Henderson (Scott) of Whitefish, Mont.; and Chris Farris (Rachel) of Whitefish; step-great-grandchildren, Farris Henderson, Harry Henderson, Kate Farris, Caroline Farris, Serria Sanders and Jackson McCraw; and a sister, Inez Dendy.

OXFORD – Henry Hershel Jenkins, 90, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford.

SMITHVILLE – Constance Anne “Connie” Hallada, 62, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at her home. Born May 13, 1950, in Wisconsin, she was a daughter of Berdalla Lena Fontaine Ploff and Joseph Peter Hallada. She grew up in Green Bay, Wis., and attended Prebble High School. She lived in Tarpon Springs, Fla., and in Smithville for the past 17 years.
A professional cook, she worked for the Park Hotel in Amory several years and was a vet tech while living in Florida. She was a huge Green Bay Packers fan and was known as living life to the fullest, optimistic, easy going, having a good sense of humor and an exceptional cook. She enjoyed her animals.
Survivors include her husband, William LaBaw of Smithville; two brothers, Dan Hallada of Green Bay and Larry Hallada of Ohio; her mother and step-father, Donald and Berdalla Lena Fontaine Ploff.
She was preceded in death by her father. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

RED BAY, Ala. – Sarah McKinney Underwood, 79, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at Red Bay Hospital. She was born Aug. 30, 1933, in Red Bay and was co-owner of True Value Hardware. She was a member of Red Bay First Baptist Church.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. today at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, Ala., with Bro. Bill Harper officiating. Burial will be in Red Bay City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Ala., will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are her husband of 60 years, Eucellis Underwood, Red Bay; four children, Nancy Underwood McCalpin (Bobby Joe), Phillip Harvey Underwood (Shelia) and Donald Wayne Underwood, all of Red Bay, and Mary Elizabeth Underwood, Nashville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Camille McCarthy Kukat (James), Darrell Harvey Underwood (Michelle), Chad Hughes and Jennifer Lane (Jonathan); seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Harvey McKinney and Lela Strickland McKinney; a grandson, Paul Wesley Hughes; a brother, William Hoyt McKinney; and a daughter-in-law, Tammy Underwood.

TUPELO – Jacqueline Ann Pannell, 46, of Racine, Wis., died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at her home. Services will begin at 11 a.m. today at N.L. Jones Funeral Home with eulogy by Pastor Orlando Pannell. Burial will be in Porters Memorial Garden in Tupelo.
She was born March 8, 1966, to Charles Clanton Jr. and Kate Newson. She was reared by her grandmother, Cornelia Newsom, in Tupelo.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother and her parents.
Survivors include a son, Nicholas Pannell of Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Nicole and Latosha Pannell of Tupelo; three grandchildren, Kasiah Haynes, Anyla Pannell and Ovas Powell Jr., all of Tupelo; a special aunt/mother, Lula Bowdry of Tupelo; two brothers, Tyron Cowby Sr. (Keitina) of Oklahoma City., Okla., and Damon Clanton of Tupelo; a sister, Felicia Clanton of Oklahoma City; four nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
CORDOVA, Tenn. – Robert Hugh Kennon, 81, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at Grace Healthcare of Cordova.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. today at Holly Springs Funeral Home. Burial will be in Carey Chapel Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, Miss.

FULTON – Lydia Georgette Daniels, 55, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. A native of Rochester, N.Y., she was the daughter of George Dunwoody and the late Lillian Dunwoody. She was a believer in Christ and fellowshipped with Faith Deliverance Church and St. Matthew MB Church. She served as a Sunday School teacher, male chorus director and worked in the kitchen. She loved to quilt, make flower arrangements cook, do anything with her hands and was a mother to all children.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Matthew MB Church in Fulton with the Rev. Kenneth McKinney officiating. Burial will be in Fulton Community Cemetery. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry D. Daniels of Fulton; two daughters, Sherry Daniels of Verona and Tamieka (Erci) Daniels-Montgomery of Tupelo; her father, George Dunwoody of Fulton; three brothers, Allan Dunwoody of Raleigh, N.C., Gerald Dunwoody of Fulton and Eric Dunwoody of Tupelo; her mother-in-law, Callie Mae Daniels of Tupelo; and four grandchildren.
Visitation is two hours before services on Monday at the church.

MOOREVILLE – Jerry Christopher McAfee, 51, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at his residence. He was born April 23, 1961, in Monroe County to Barnie D. McAfee and Edna Lee Stepp McAfee. Before moving to the Skyline community three years ago, he lived in Columbus for 48 years where he graduated from Lee High School in 1979. He worked as a caregiver, caterer and restaurant worker. He enjoyed cooking, cleaning, floral design, arts and crafts, antiques and listening to gospel and country music. He was a member of Living Waters Community Church.
A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Horace Barnes officiating. Private burial will be in New Home Cemetery of Itawamba County.
Survivors include his sister, Linda Baucom (James Monroe “Bo”) of Caledonia; a special aunt and caregiver, Bessie Mills of Skyline; niece and nephew, Stephanie Gerber of Columbus and Steve Baucom of Nashville, Tenn.; and great nieces and nephews, Madison Kendal Baucom, Mark Baucom, Mason James Gerber, Gary Daniel Robbins, Scotty Phillips Robbins, Ashley Lee McAfee and Shauna Jean McAfee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Inez McAfee; and siblings, Tommy David McAfee, Barnie Gene McAfee and Judy Lee McAfee.

VINA, Ala. – Jeffrey Chester Childers,43, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, in Marion County, Ala. He was born Oct. 12, 1968, in Red Bay, Ala., and was a supervisor at Tiffin Motor Homes. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, a pee wee football coach and little league baseball coach for his son, Austin’s team.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. today at Liberty Baptist Church in Vina with Bro. Marshall Emerson and Bro. Greg Philamlee officiating. Burial will be in Newburg Cemetery, Marion County, Vina, Ala. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Ala., will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are one son, Austin Childers, Vina; his father, Henry Chester Childers, Bull Mountain, Ala.; his mother, Judy Watson (Harold) Vina; two sisters, Jennifer Watson and Hashu Watson, both of Vina; Austin’s mother, Gena Childers, Vina, and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Chester Childers, Gwendalee Shotts Childers, Doc Feltman and Versie Feltman and two uncles, Johny Wayne Childers and Wesley Feltman.
