Flora Crum

RIPLEY – Flora B. Crum, 72, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born Oct. 14, 1940, in Tippah County to Azzie Crum and Freddie L. Vance Crum.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Foster & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley with the Rev. Kevin Crum officiating. Burial will be in Boyd Cemetery.

She is survived by two daughters, Denise Hill (Robert) and Angela Smith; four sons, Timothy Smith (Sharon), Kenneth Smith, Floyd Davis and Randle Ransaw; three sisters, Helen Johnson (Charlie), Margie Ann Johnson (Henderson) and Beatrice Cowan; five brothers, Sammie Crum (Martha(), Anthony Crum (Shelia), Hillman Crum, Gary Crum and James Jr. Crum (Mary Sue); and a host of granddchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service Saturday.

L.E. Green

FULTON – L.E. Green, 89, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, in Fulton. He was born May 19, 1924, to Lula and Leonie Green. He was a member of Pine Grove M.B. Church for more than 50 years. He was retired from Evans Lumber Co.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 20, at Pine Grove M.B. Church at Fulton. Burial will be in the church cemetery. N.L. Jones Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Green; one granddaughter, Tara Lynn Shawver; one great-grandson, William Christian Shawver; one great-granddaughter, Nia Shawver, all of Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, Oneal Green (Ana) of Gary, Ind., and Lonnie Green of Fulton; one sister, Sarah Jane Gassaway of Redford, Mich.; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Green Shawver; 11 siblings; and his parents.

The body will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to service time.

Ethel Schwalenberg

VARDAMAN – Ethel Y. Schwalenberg, 92, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at her home in Sour Lake, Texas. She was born Jan. 19, 1921, in Barfield, Ala. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Vardaman. She was a quilter and seamstress and loved working in her flower bed. She married Grady Schwalenberg in 1945 and they moved to Sacramento, Calif., where she worked in an aircraft factory. After World War II, they moved to Vardaman.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Vardaman. The Rev. Don Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Poplar Springs Cemetery at Vardaman.

She is survived by three sons, Gary (Pat) Schwalenberg of Texas, Davy (Roseanne) Schwalenberg of Mississippi and Don (Joy) Schwalenberg of Mississippi; four grandchildren, Whitt (Angie) Schwalenberg, Taylor (William) Pruett and Deanna Schwalenberg, all of Mississippi, and Leslie (Mike) Machtinger of Virginia; four great-grandchildren, Madalyn Schwalenberg, Grady Machtinger, Emmy and Patrick Pruett; two sisters, Vida Childs of Georgia, Geneva Smith of Alabama; three sisters-in-law, Inez Schwalenberg of Mississippi, and Nancy Yates and Nadyne Yates of Alabama; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur C. Yates and Ettie Pitts Yates; her husband; a grandson, Ed Schwalenberg; brothers, Albert, Abra, Edward, Clayton, Cloyse and Willis Yates; and a sister, Edna Fincher.

Pallbearers will be Sonny Burt, Rocky Fleming, Rodney Gillespie, Whitt Schwalenberg, James Ray Schwalenberg and Dewayne Winters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

HOLLY SPRINGS – Ann M. Anderson, 83, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at Christopher Personal Care Home in Holly Springs. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Serenity Funeral Home of Holly Springs.

Linda Ray

SALTILLO – Linda Tutor Ray, 64, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born Oct. 13, 1948. She was a graduate of Shannon High School. She graduated from Itawamba Junior College with a nursing degree. She worked as a nurse at North Mississippi Medical Center and also as a lab analyst for 13 years with ESG Operations. She loved her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bingo, visiting her family in Las Vegas and spending time with her puppies.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues in Tupelo with the Rev. Bobby Holland officiating. A graveside service will follow at Saltillo Cemetery.

Survivors include five children, Sherry Riley (Sean Gambles), Tracy Riley (Kevin Valentine), Dallas Tutor, all of Saltillo, Rachel Idol (Brian) of Kesler Air Force Base and Rebecca Sudduth (Donald) of Saltillo; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earlene and Robert Jowers; and her fiancé, Rick Kennedy.

Pallbearers will be Donald Sudduth, Kevin Valentine, Sean Gambles, Brian Idol, Greg Patterson and Dan Martin.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Tupelo.

Leigh Rinehart

RAYMOND – Virginia Leigh Rinehart, 26, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. She was born in Flowood on Oct. 6, 1986. She graduated from Terry High School with honors in just three years. She was an avid animal lover, especially horses. She worked closely with the Animal Rescue League, always rescuing animals.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Doty Chapel Cemetery in Shannon.

Survivors include her parents, Allen and Frankie Rinehart of Raymond; her husband of eight years, Joe Strong of Raymond; her grandparents, Harold and Mary Jane Rinehart of Shannon, and Betty Peters of Nettleton; brother, Chris Rinehart (Pam) of Shannon; sisters, Delana Hoffman (Justin) of Florence and Latricia McCoy (Ruben) of Jackson; and six nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram.

CLINTON – DeMarcus S. Webster, 32, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Union Hill M.B. Church in Flora. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Montgomery Mortuary of Houston is in charge of arrangements.

Francis William Havens

BIG CREEK – Francis William Havens, 67, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born Oct. 21, 1945, in Grenada County to Carl Edward Havens and Dessie Gray Havens. He was a maintenance worker for Weyerhauser and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda McGee Havens of Big Creek; one daughter, Lisa (Wayne) Reynolds of Big Creek; three sons, Steven (Cindy) Havens of Guntown, Carl Havens of Big Creek; and Michael (Kim) Havens of Bruce; eight grandchildren, Paige Parks, Brenton (Jessica) Reynolds, Braeden Reynolds, Jensyn Havens, Colby Havens, Cyle Havens, Cain Havens and Allie Brooke Havens; two great-grandchildren, Autumn Blaire Reynolds and Eric Crocker; and a sister, Hazel Young Russell of Tupelo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Young Stokes; and three brothers, James Edward Havens, Charles Curtis Havens and Louis Ralph Havens.

Services will be at 5 p.m. today, Sept. 20, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Big Creek. The Rev. Joe Hearn and the Rev. Joe Russell will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Nebo Cemetery in Big Creek. Pryor Funeral Home of Calhoun City is in charge of arrangements.

Becky Montes

PONTOTOC – Maria “Becky” del Rosario Montes Castaneda, 70, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at her home. She was born in Guatamala and migrated to New York more than 40 years ago. She has been living in Pontotoc, where she attended Baptist Church “Cristo Vive” for more than 13 years. She was a generous, loving, amazing woman who touched so many lives.

Services will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc. Pastor Rocky Tzib will officiate. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her husband, Carlos Montes Sr.; five children, Henry Montes, Vilma Montes, Martha de Leon, Maria Rivera and Carlos Montes Jr.; two sons-in-law, Edgar de Leon and Juan Carlos Rivera; daughter-in-law, Shirley Montes; nine grandchildren, Lidia Bobb, Alex Montes, Stephanie Montes, Ariel de Leon, Eloisa de Leon, Ryan Jordan, Anthony Rivera, Wesley Rivera and Vinny Montes; a grandson-in-law, Dale Bobb; five great-grandchildren, Dominique Bobb, Manny Bobb, Jason Gomez, Ayden Montes and Delilah Bobb; two brothers; a brother-in-law; sisters-in-law; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

RED BANKS – Jada Nashay Moore, 2-week-old daughter of Curteria Pritchard Moore and Carl Moore Jr. of Red Banks, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at Baptist Hospital for Women in Memphis.

HICKORY FLAT – Sammie L. Wilkerson, 70, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born Oct. 1, 1942, to Andy and Nora Collins Wilkerson in Benton County. He was a former employee of Memphis Equipment Company where he made many friends before retiring after 32 years. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. A loving husband and father, he loved his four grandchildren dearly.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today, Sept. 20, at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley with Bro. Brownie Tohill and Bro. Neal Vick officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Benton County. McBride Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda Carson Wilkerson of Hickory Flat; one daughter, Vicki Rogers (Tim) of Somerville, Tenn.; one son, Steven Wilkerson (Cindy) of Somerville, Tenn.; one sister, Jean Renick of Olive Branch; one brother, Bobby Wilkerson (Linda) of Hickory Flat; and four grandchildren, Chris, Chelsie, Kayla and Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Maxine Roark; and three brothers, Jamie Dee, Ray and Lamon Wilkerson.

She is survived by a son, Willie Briggs of Memphis; two daughters, Helen Luellen and Ida Coleman, both of Memphis; one brother, Charles Walls of Memphis; one sister, Violet Walls of Olive Branch; 32 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
