SOUTHAVEN – Luke McCraw, 4, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis after a lifelong illness. He was born June 12, 2009, in Southaven.
Brantley-Phillips Funeral Home in Hernando is taking care of his cremation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. His ashes will be buried in McCraw Family Cemetery in Bay Springs.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Christy McCraw, and two brothers, Austin and Hunter McCraw of Southaven; his grandfathers, Bobby McCraw of Aberdeen and Rick Allred of Mooreville; and his aunts and uncles, Nancy and Jason Cantrell of Aberdeen, Brandy Allred of Laurel and Rick Allred Jr. of Mantachie.
He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Judith McCraw and Cynthia Allred.

Rev. Sidney Gattis
MEMPHIS – The Rev. Sidney Earl Gattis, 84, passed away Friday, Sept. 20, 2013. He was born Oct. 2, 1928, in Tupelo to Sidney Freeman Gattis and Sarah Whitaker Gattis. He was an evangelist.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Wilson Gattis; his three daughters, Carolyn Gattis, Jeanette Riley (Johnny) and Bethel Wallace; three sisters; four brothers; his great-granddaughter; and great-great-granddaughter.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; six sisters; and two grandchildren, Michael and Michelle.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 24, at Family Funeral Care in Memphis.

ABERDEEN – Gordon Ray Comer, 91, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at Pioneer Community Hospital in Aberdeen. He was born Oct. 1, 1921, to Joseph Sanford Comer and Virdie Stovall Comer in Fulton. He graduated from Itawamba High School. He lived in Aberdeen since 1946. He was a member of Aberdeen First United Methodist Church and the Rotary Club. He was founder of Comer Packing, where he worked for 51 years, retiring in 1997.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 24, at Aberdeen First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Keith Williams officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Rest Cemetery. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy Comer (Carol) of Aberdeen; one granddaughter, Carla Arevalo (Michael) of Aberdeen; one grandson, Ray Comer (Anne) of Aberdeen; two great-granddaughters, Brindley Comer and Allie Comer; and one sister, Wilma Creely (Jack ) of Fulton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth Grimes Comer; one brother, Graden Comer; and two sisters, Christine Pate and Tarlene Weatheford.
Pallbearers will be Ray Lacey, David Houston, George Grimes, John Bales, Charles Caraway and Tom Seymer.

MILFORD, Conn. – Travis C. Kitchen, 90, passed away Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, in Wallingford, Conn. He was born in Lee County to Richard Alvin Kitchen and Vernie Lessel Kitchen. He attended Camp Creek school and Cedar Hill school before moving to Tupelo. He served with honor in the U.S. Air Force in the 20th Air Force 348 Service Group. He received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and Bronze Star. In 1946 he was one of the original founders of the VFW Post 7788 in Devon, Conn. He was a master carpenter in the Milford, Conn., area for many years.
He is survived by one son, Richard T. Kitchen, and one daughter, Judith Evans, both of Milford, Conn.; one grandson and several great[grandchildren; his brothers, Murle Kitchen of Tupelo and Charles Kitchen of Saltillo; and three sisters, Mildred Gore and Betty Young of Tupelo, and Dorothy Kettleman of Richland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Farrell Kitchen; and a sister, Nona Wayne Houston.
A prayer service was held on Friday, Sept. 20, at Cody-White Funeral Home of Milford, Conn.
PONTOTOC – Betty Jean Stacy Martin, 82, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, as a result of an automobile accident. She was born to A.J. and Elma Stacy on June 18, 1931, in Pontotoc County. She was a Christian and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, an accomplished seamstress, farmer, factory worker, 4-H Club leader and a member of the Algoma Home Demonstration Club. A disciplined gardener, she was known for her decorative flowers and her beneficial generosity and as a beef cattle owner who built sturdy fences.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Baldwin Nowell Funeral Home in Pontotoc with Dr. Kermit McGregor officiating and the Rev. Roger Stacy assisting. Lisa Williamson will deliver the eulogy.Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter, Pat George of Pontotoc; a son, Joe Martin (Mary) of Pontotoc; two grandsons, Brad Bailey and Josh George; two sisters, Dorothy McCoy of Algoma and Helen Duncan of Amory; a sister-in-law, Imogene Stacy of Pontotoc; and host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Martin; a son, Kenneth Martin; her parents; a brother, Ike Stacy; and a sister, Robbie Nell Johnson.

FULTON – Carlton Lee Crane, 61, passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at his residence. He was born Oct. 31, 1951, to N.C. Crane and Dollie Yielding Crane Harbor. He retired from F.L. Crane and Sons after 30-plus years of service. He was a member of Pine Grove Church of Christ. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. He dearly loved his children and grandchildren.

MEMPHIS – William Treadwell Huddleston, 84, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at Signature Health Care in Memphis. He was born April 11, 1929, to John William and Effie Lenora Brotherton Huddleston in Ripley, the third of six children. He attended Shady Grove School. He married Mable Grace Sanderson Huddleston on April 10, 1948. He served his country in both the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Theodore Chandler and in the Air Force Reserves. He was a member of Macon Road Church of Christ for 45 years. He was a retired truckdriver for Signal Delivery and Sears.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Antioch Cemetery in Ripley. Burial will follow. McBride Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of arrangements.

PONTOTOC – Lora Mae Kidd White, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at her home after a brief illness. She was born June 14, 1938. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. She was a very loving person to all she knew. She enjoyed playing bingo, fishing, her pets, gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandson, Brett Jacob White.
