TUPELO – Sarah Frances Davis, 83, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, at Community Hospice in Verona after an extended Illness. She was born Jan. 10, 1927, in Oxford to William Henry and Zada Kellum Shackelford. She lived in Memphis for many years before moving to Tupelo in 1990. Mrs. Davis retired after many years as a receptionist with Baptist Brotherhood in Memphis. She was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church, where she was involved for several years with the Merrymakers of Harrisburg. The last several years she loved her daily 2 p.m. cappuccino she shared with her neighborhood friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Dr. Forrest Sheffield officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from noon to service time today.
Survivors include her brother, Bobby Thomas Shackelford of Verona; brothers-in-law, Horace Davis of Olive Branch and C.B. Davis (Roberta) of Memphis; sisters-in-law, Doris Shackelford of Tupelo, Zane Davis of Oxford and Marlene Shackelford Cobb of Tupelo; two nieces, Brenda Estes and Patsy Montgomery of Tupelo; two nephews, Loren Shackelford of Verona and Larry Shackelford of Texas; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Bryan Davis; two brothers, William Floyd Shackelford and James Henry “Red” Shackelford; and a nephew, Bobby Thomas Shackelford.
Pallbearers are Andy Estes, Loren Shackelford, Marc Goldmon, Larry Shackelford, Ryan Montgomery, Bryce Montgomery and Chris Montgomery.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Bettie Lue Peel, 57, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010, at the Spectrum Health Special Hospital in Grand Rapids. She was formerly of Oxford. She was a member of Temple of Christ Mount Calvary Church in Grand Rapids.

She is survived by two sons, David Lewis and Keith (Rosiland) Lewis, both of Grand Rapids; five sisters, Kattie (Robert) Wilson of Grand Rapids, Dorothy (William) Love and Ora Campbell of Oxford, Alice Terrell of Alton, Ill., and Bernice Stinson of St. Louis, Mo.; three brothers, J.B. Franklin, Howard (Mae) Brassell and Andrew (Doris) Brassell, all of Oxford; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.
HOUSTON – Mary Elizabeth “Bessie” Tucker McShan, 94, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born May 6, 1916, in Houston to Willie Mon and Sittie B. Tucker. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Houston. She married Roosevelt Wallace, and they had six children. He preceded her in death. She later married Lowery McShan, and they had three children. He also preceded her in death. She was an employee of the Houston Hospital for many years. She was a great homemaker who loved cooking, sewing, gardening, working crossword puzzles and her pet and loyal companion, Lady. She had a natural gift of making everyone around laugh and smile and she instilled in her family the value of hard work and discipline.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Second Baptist M.B. Church in Houston. Burial will be in the Houston Cemetery. Montgomery Mortuary Service of Houston is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include three children, Elizabeth (Geams) Ford of Houston, William Earl (Clara) McShan of Houston and Emily (Sammy) Pulliam of Tupelo; three special grandchildren entrusted to her care, Tylora (Timothy) Edwards of West Point, and William Wallace Jr. and Michael (Kayla) Wallace of Tupelo; one sister, Annie Ray Hereford of Beloit, Wis.; 32 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Linda Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Willie H. Tucker, Joe H. Tucker, John Tucker and Augustus Tucker; one sister, Katie Kennedy; five sons, Roosevelt, Jack, William, Robert and Johnny Wallace; and one daughter, Earnestine Harris.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service time today.
BOONEVILLE – Melvin Eugene Weathers, 28, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville from injuries sustained in an accident.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mark McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

FULTON – Mary Olene Waddle, 78, died Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at The Meadows. She was born July 29, 1932, in Itawamba County to Earnest and Fronnie Ashley Sides. She was a retired factory worker and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. She and her husband owned Waddle’s Clothing Store in the Salem community. She loved spending time with her husband and family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and The Price Is Right.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Senter Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. William McClellan and Bro. Loyd Stevens officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Odell Waddle of Golden; two daughters, Janice Clark (Robert) of Golden and Pamela Brazil (Steve) of Dennis; one daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Waddle of Belmont; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; her niece and caregiver, Eloise Lindsey.

She was born Aug. 19, 1914, to Charles Brazzell and Zora Brazzell in Gallatin, Tenn. She lived most of her life in Aberdeen and the past six months in Foley, Ala.
