HERNANDO – Lance Cpl. Joshua S. Ose, United States Marine Corps, died Sept. 20, 2010, while serving our country in Afghanistan. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Hernando and a Class of 2009 graduate of Hernando High School.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Baptist Church in Southaven. Burial will be in Hernando Memorial Park Cemetery in Hernando. Hernando Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his parents, Sissy Fernandez Ose and Ross Ose of Hernando; his grandparents, Darlene and Earl Ose of Indianapolis, Ind.; aunts and uncles, Brenda and John Conrad of Tupelo, Sherry and Scott Fernandez of Hernando, Dr. Dennis and Dr. Wendy Ose of Cary, N.C., and Paul and Sarah Ose of Round Lake, Mich.; and many cousins.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church of Hernando.
GREENWOOD SPRINGS – Gary “Buddy” Prestridge, 65, died Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at his home. He was born Oct. 13, 1944, in Monroe County to Florence Gray Lewis Prestridge and William Homer Prestridge. He was a member of Athens Baptist Church in Monroe County. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming. He loved his grandkids and mules.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Otts Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Wofford Cemetery. Otts Funeral Home of Sulligent is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his mother, Florence Prestridge of Greenwood Springs; his wife, Ada Prestridge of Greenwood Springs; his sons, William Grady Prestridge of Greenwood Springs, Billy Ray (Amy) Yarbrough of Hamilton, Gary L. Prestridge Jr. of Sardis, Fenley (Michelle) Pope of Sulligent, Terry Pope of Senatobia and Jimmy Gray Prestridge of Hatley; and his daughters, Dorothy Nell (Sam) Grant of Hatley, Pamela Kay Sutton of Hatley, Candice Marie (Robert) Thompson of Ramer, Tenn., Wanda Michelle (Gregg) Pearson of Corinth, Patricia Ann Pope of Greenwood Springs and Sherry Pope of Vernon, Ala.
He is also survived by grandchildren Andy, Kayla, Toby, Ashley, Wesley, Ethan, Vicky, Dilliand, Cheyanne, Timmy, Jarrett, Jerricca, Natalie, Courtney, Daniel, Lacie, Nathan, Adam, Zackary, Ruger, Shane, Billy Ray, Casey, Jordan, Jake, Will, Kody, Kyle, Jessica and Kaleb; several great-grandchildren; and his sister, Glenda (Edward “Doc”) Taylor of Aberdeen.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Homer Prestridge; and his brother, Donnie Prestridge.

NEW ALBANY – John T. Henderson, 77, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford.
He was born July 7, 1933, in Union County to Robert N. Henderson Sr. and Chasta Whiteside Henderson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a retired employee of the Soil Conservation Service. He enjoyed talking with the coffee buddies at Cotton Plant and repairing small engines. He was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at United Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery. United Funeral Service of New Albany is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife Jacqueline Henderson of New Albany; two sons, Anthony L. Henderson (Sandra) of Huntsville, Ala., and John C. Henderson of Madison; a sister, Jane Nance (Troy) of New Albany; a brother, Robert N. Henderson Jr. (Dorothy) of New Albany; and five grandchildren, Jane Claire, Garrett, Lilah, Chase and Katie Henderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Perry Lee Henderson; and a daughter-in-law, Yoby Henderson.
Pallbearers will be Garrett Henderson, Brent Henderson, Kelly Nance, Clay Hogue, Bob Darden and Johnny Davis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Wilson, Johnny Fitzgerald, Wayne West and Marshall McLaughlin.
In honor of Mr. Henderson’s service to his country, United Funeral Service will fly the U.S. Army flag during his visitation and service.

BOONEVILLE – Betty Jean White Smith, 76, died Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at Landmark Nursing and Rehab in Booneville.
She was born March 17, 1934, to Fred and Eula Grace Lauderdale White. She was a retired factory worker having been employed with Brown Shoe Co. and Prentiss Mfg. She was a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church and enjoyed reading, baking, sewing, crocheting and knitting. She was an avid sports fan.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kerry Powell and Bro. Dwain Whitehurst officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park. McMillan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Randal Smith; her daughter, Sandy (Larry) Bethay of Booneville; her son, Michael Smith of Booneville; two brothers, Curt (Helen) White of Corinth and Grady (Jackie) White of Pisgah; and eleven nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Billy White.

AMORY – Thomas Glen “Tommy” Hillhouse, 62, died Friday, Sept, 24, 2010, at his home on Old 25 South in Amory after an extended illness.
He was born in the Fame Community of Webster County on May 25, 1948, to Elvis “Josh” Hillhouse and Ella Mae Marshall Hillhouse. He grew up in Webster County and graduated from Eupora High School in l966. He married Sue Smith on Dec. 29, l979, in Okolona. They resided in Okolona for 14 years and had lived the past 17 years in Amory.
He was a longtime truck driver, formerly self employed and working many years for Blue Mountain Trucking and other local furniture companies. He was a member of Central Grove Baptist Church. He loved his family and adored his children and grandchildren who affectionately called him PawPaw. He loved fishing and cooking fish, especially frying catfish. He was known for large gatherings of family and friends who would enjoy his catch. He was also known for his unceasing conversations and his love of life.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Central Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Dennis Smithey and Bro. Jim Ray officiating. Burial will be in the Howell Family Cemetery near Wren. Holland Funeral Directors, Okolona Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Smith Hillhouse of Amory; two daughters, Nicole Howell (Jerry Jr.) of Okolona and Heather Stark (Ross) of Amory; his son, Reno Garcia Hillhouse (Hope) of Tupelo; four grandchildren, Dalton Garcia of Amory, Donovan Nicholson of Tupelo, Drake Garcia of Tupelo and Anna Katherine Howell of Okolona; his sister, Sandra Gibson (Ken) of Long Beach; three brothers, James Hillhouse (Edna Mae) of Jackson, Wallace Hillhouse (Judy) of Mathiston and Gerald Hillhouse (Margie) of Eupora; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Josh and Ella Mae Hillhouse.

IUKA – Arrie Burndeen Blackard, 75, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center.
She was a member of Providence Baptist Church. She was retired from aluminum manufacturing and shoe manufacturing. She was also a beautician. She enjoyed going to church, working in her yard and spending time with her family.

ECRU – Bonnie Jean Speck Latham Dove, 70, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
She was born Sept. 15, 1940, in Union County to Earnest L. Speck and Bonnie Sample Speck. She was a beautician for 26 years in New Albany. She was a member of the Wells Chapel Methodist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Candi White (William), Jeanne Swann (Mitch) and Melodi Reed, all of Ecru; two sisters, Ernesteen Roberts (Shirley) and Thelma Smithey (Bill), both of New Albany; two grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andy Latham; and her brother, Bruce Speck.

He was born July 10, 1937, to Albert and Ada Bell McMillen. He was a professional mechanic who took pride in his work. He was of the Church of God faith. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
