Martha Jewel Clarke
Mrs. Martha Clarke, 95, died Friday September 27, 2013, at Dugan Memorial Home in West Point. She was born June 4, 1918, in Cairo, Miss. to Thomas and Estelle Gordon Davis. She was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church and the DAR. Martha loved caring for all kinds of animals; it didn’t matter what kind of animal needed loving, Memaw gave it to them, cats, dogs even birds. Martha is also known for making seven shirts for President Ronald Reagan and numerous wedding dresses, prom dresses, cheerleading uniforms, bedspreads, drapes, rugs and covering couches and chairs. She is also known for fixing roofs, broken water pipes and changing oil in the car.
Funeral services will be Sunday, September 29, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Robinson Chapel with the Rev. Doran Henry officiating. Burial will be in Cairo Presbyterian Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Andy Davis, Larry Davis, Terry Chrismond, Kenny Clarke, Marion Davis Edwards, Cameron Clark, and Teddy Davis.
Honorary pallbearers are Staff at Dugan Nursing Home, Roger Davis, Lance Watson, Marvin Turnipseed, Gailon Young and Ben Thomas Edwards.
She is survived by a grandson Allan Clarke (Tiffany); great-grandson, Cameron Clark; and great-granddaughter, Cambry Clarke, all of Bruce; daughter-in-law, Edie Clarke Todd (Bubba) of West Point; and a sister, Elizabeth Davis Edwards of West Point.
She was preceeded in death by a son ,Allan Cameron Clarke Jr.; and four brothers, Thomas Davis, Gordan Davis, Thad Davis and Clayton Davis.

GUNTOWN – Thomas “Tom” Richard Nanny, 60, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born April 24, 1953, to James and Lucille Nanny. He was a radiologist tech.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Spradling officiating. Waters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his daughter, Katherine Nanny of Houston, Texas; son, Tommy Monaghan of Saltillo; sister, Rebecca Smith (Robert) of Mantachie; four brothers, J.R. Nanny of Baldwyn, Bryan Nanny of Memphis, David Nanny of Booneville and Chuck Nanny of Guntown; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
NETTLETON – Robert Lee Myrick, 42, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born Oct. 20, 1970, in Cook County, Illinois to Ollie Lee Myrick and Beulah Pipkins Myrick. He grew up in Arkansas and lived in Mississippi the last 30 years. A Pentecostal, he was a truck driver for Magnolia Freight until his recent illness. He loved music; played in the No Excuse Benefit Band, which made music to support cancer victims; and loved his job trucking all across America.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at the Nettleton Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Larry Monaghan officiating. Burial will be in Euclatubba Cemetery near Saltillo. Holland Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his daughters, Haley Scott, Serenity Nicole Parker of Arkansas, Kacie Horton of Alabama and Brook Hurd and Jessie George, both of Mantachie; his siblings, John Van Humphrey (Jennifer) of Mantachie, William Steve Harris of Nettleton, Carl Myrick (Paula) of Ripley, Tenn., Kenny Myrick of Pontotoc, Joe Humphrey of Amory, Gwen Humphrey of Nettleton, Kay Palmer of Tupelo, Ann Clark of Saltillo and Raven Kazprazak of Missouri; and one grandchild, Jodi Lee Kay Hurd.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Diane Myrick; and three brothers, Lee Myrick, Larry Myrick and David Humphrey.
Pallbearers will be Jimmie Myrick, Kenny Myrick Jr., Jeffery Hurd, Brandon Chaney, Joshua Myrick and Joshua Palmer.
Honorary pallbearer will be Jacob Palmer.
Visitation will be from noon until service time only Monday at the Nettleton Chapel.

HOULKA – Arnold Gene Collums Sr., 78, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born Oct. 3, 1934, in Calhoun County. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, a veteran and a self employeed logger.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at Thorn Church of God with Bro. Arnold Amason officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Houlka. Memorial Funeral Home of Houston is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Mavis Marie Barnette Collums of Houlka; two daughters, Vicky Holder (Doug) of Vardaman and Betty Jean Shields of Houlka; one son, Arnold Gene Collums Jr. of Houlka; 10 grandchildren, James Glenn Tharp Jr., John Roy Tharp, Brittney Rena Tharp, Amy Collums, Wendy Shields, Crystal Shields, Jessy Ann Collums, Josey Marie Collums, Brandy Holder and Brittany Austin; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Sue Clark of Potts Camp; and one brother, Jimmy Collums of Houlka.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry Collums and Eula Mae Prewitt Collums; one great-grandchild, Nathen Tharp; and three brothers, Billy Joel Collums, Winston Collums and Laverne Collums.

BECKER – Vickie Lynn Mitchell, 56, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at her residence. Born on June 11, 1957, in Clarksdale, she was a daughter of William Hollis and Elizabeth Dean Knight Griffin.
Having attended Memphis Schools, Vickie moved to Amory in 1971, and attended Amory High School. She worked as a seamstress and cloth spreader in the local furniture and garment industries. A determined and generous lady who had a big heart, she was passionate about Ronald McDonald House in Memphis. She was Baptist. Loving life and her family, she enjoyed playing card and dice games, teaching her family how to play these games, traveling, taking pictures and listening to Old Country music.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Mac Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her partner, Steve Phillips of Becker; daughter, Hollie Mitchell (Michelle Rubin) of Atlanta; three stepdaughters; a stepson; six stepgrandchildren; sisters, Shirley Carter and Sheila Manning of Southaven, Brenda Lewis of Independence, Sherry Harris of Southaven, Debra “Bozie” Moore of Nesbit, Toni Pearson of Smithville and Sandra Joyce of Mumford, Tenn.; brother, Eddie F. Griffin of Counts, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Paula Kay Hurley and Belinda Hall.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Bradley Ray Mitchell; sister, Linda Coley; and brothers, Billy Earl and Clarence A. “Red” Griffin.

WALNUT – Robert Clarence Proctor, 83, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at his residence. He was born Aug. 21, 1930, to Issac Hayes and Hester Lee Rose Proctor. He was a Baptist and was in the wholesale distribution business as a transportation manager.

He is survived by one daughter, Donna Proctor of Cordova; one son, Steve Proctor (Anne) of Walnut; one sister, Dessie Voyles of Bartlett; one brother, Horace Proctor (Ann) of Arlington; and one grandchild, Mande Proctor of Germantown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn Proctor; and one brother, Lloyd Proctor.

GREENWOOD – Willia “Faye” Coggins Gwin, 75, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at Indywood Glen Personal Care. She was born on Jan. 24, 1938, in Baldwyn. She attended Northeast Mississippi Junior College and worked in the Fifth Circuit Court system for Judge Clayton. She subsequently worked for her husband as his legal secretary for 30 years. She will be remembered as a devoted wife and loving mother. She was an avid fan of horses, dogs and all of God’s creatures. There was never an animal who heard her distinctive voice that didn’t wag a tail.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Peter Gray will officiate.
She is survived by her four stepchildren, Melissa Gwin Pedron of Elizabethtown, Ky., Michael O. Gwin of Jackson, Elizabeth Prestidge Gwin “Betsy” Burrus, of Nashville, Tenn., and Christopher Green Gwin of Atlanta, Ga.; and nine stepgrandchildren, Andrew Conway Pedron, Thomas Pedron, Stephen Pedron, Katie Gwin, Clare Gwin, Ellen Gwin, Swan Burrus, Margaret Burrus and Christopher Burrus.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Arnold “Bo” Gwin, and her parents, Eva McCary and R.V. Coggins.
