WEST POINT – Bennie Will Oats, 60, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Northside Christian Church. Burial will be in Red Hill cemetery at Ackerman. Carter’s Mortuary services of West Point is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Melanie Hudson
MEMPHIS – Melanie Gray Hudson died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at her sister’s home in Memphis. She was born in 1950 in New Albany.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, in the Forbus Center of First Baptist Church in Greenville. High Point Funeral Home and Crematorium of Memphis is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her son, Joshua Gray Hudson of Oak Grove, Ky.; her parents, Robert and Juanita Gray of Greenville; sisters, Shannon Sipes of Greenville and Rosie Raley of Memphis; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Sammie Michael
BOONEVILLE – Sammie Harold Michael, 63, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2011, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born Aug. 3, 1948, in Prentiss County to Sammie Frank Michael and Clara Evelyn Hall Michael. He was a carpet installer, and he was a Baptist. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and music.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ricky Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park.
He is survived by a son, Charlie Durham (Donna) of Jumpertown; a brother, Kenneth Michael (Andrea) of Jumpertown; two grandsons, Chad Durham and Channing Durham, both of Jumpertown; his stepmother, Nannie Michael of Jumpertown; three stepsisters, Valerie Parrigo, Wanda Moore and Kathy Spink, all of Jumpertown; a stepbrother, Frankie Perrigo of Jumpertown; three nephews, Sammy Durham (Stacy), Jason Durham (Lucritta) and Kenny Michael (Mandi); three nieces, Stacy Flake, Sherry Bridges and Sandra Hastings; three great-nieces, BreAnna Duncan, Madison Duncan and Allison Michael; five great-nephews, Austin Durham, Carmen Hastings, Cody Duncan, Dustin Flake and Aiden Michael; four special friends, Phil Mardis, Larry Garrett, Kathy Cagle and Eddie Cagle.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Michael; his parents; and two brothers, Ronnie Bridges and Danny Michael.
Pallbearers are Phil Mardis, Jerry Mardis, Johnny Bridges, Jason Durham, Sammy Durham, Eddie Cagle and Austin Durham.

Jennie Epting
BALDWYN – Jennie Sue Epting, 78, died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was a housewife and member of Jericho Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Rickey Blyth, Bro. Adrian Horne and Bro. Lewis Paridiso officiating. Burial will be in Jericho Cemetery.
She is survived by one daughter, Wanda E. Purdy (Ken) of Montezuma, Mo.; two sons, Gerry Epting (Sylvia) and Johnny Epting (Debbie), all of Jericho; one sister, Clarice Bryson of Jericho; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Epting, and her parents, James Douglas and Lou Tishie Yarbrough.

Willie Willingham
TAYLOR – Willie C. Willingham, 81, died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at the Yalobusha Nursing Home in Water Valley. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc.
Judy Ford
WHEELER – Judy Eloise Harris Ford, 69, died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at her home. She was born April 16, 1942, in Tishomingo to Thomas Turner and Josie Bell Duncan Harris. She was employed at Blue Bell Mfg. for 37 years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, gardening and helping people. She was a Baptist.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Hall officiating. Burial will be in Booneville City Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth “Smiley” Ford; one daughter, Jennifer South Mann (Bryan) of Wheeler; one stepson, Sean Ford (Carrie) of Wheeler; one stepdaughter, Lynn Tyes (William) of Guntown; three sisters, Dean Wigginton (Orville) of Belmont, Mary Hollie of Como and Ruth Gann of Booneville; nine grandchildren and stepgrandchildren, Dewanna Garvin (Shane) of Booneville, Sheila Allen of New Site, Candace Allen of New Site, Eden Jaimes (Juan) of Amory, Laken Thomas (Jamie) of Wheeler, Cecelia Geno of Wheeler, Lauren Mann of Barylett, Tenn., Steven Mann of Bartlett, Tenn., and Ethan Grimes of Wheeler; four great-grandchildren, Michael Peyton Eldridge, Makenzie Eldridge, Jailen Thomas and Colton Holloway.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Thomas, Daniel Stevens, James Sullivan, Jimmy Weatherbee, Jody Thompson and Anthony Stevens.

Zayne Atkins
WEST POINT – Zayne Alexander Atkins, 27 days old, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at the North Mississippi Medical Center Women’s Hospital in Tupelo. He was born Aug. 10, 2011, in West Point to Tammala Lancaster Smith and Robert Atkins. He was of the Catholic faith.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Memorial Garden Cemetery with the Rev. Tony Proctor officiating. Burial will follow. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his mother, Tammala Lancaster Smith, and his father, Robert Atkins; three sisters, Adrianne Lancaster, Laura Nix and Julia Smith; two brothers, Bryan Smith and his twin brother, Zachary Atkins, all of West Point; grandparents, Debra and Gary Lancaster of West Point; great-grandparents, Fred and Phyliss Dreher of West Point, Willard Roberts of Pearl and Wallace Lancaster; two aunts, Olivia Lancaster Laine of Bella Vista, Ark., and Tammy Parfait of Dulac, La.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparent, Valgene Roberts.
Visitation will be from 1:45 p.m. until service time Saturday at the graveside.
Clarence Cox
NEW ALBANY – Clarence Billy Wayne Cox, 73, died Tuesday, Sept, 6, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital -North Mississippi in Oxford. He was born Jan. 7, 1938, in Mississippi to Henry Lee and Estelle Snyder Cox. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired truck driver. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching sports. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a Baptist.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at United Funeral Service with Rev. Shawn Davis officiating. Burial will be in Glenfield Memorial Park in New Albany.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Tyer Cox; two daughters, Tina Potts (Kevin) and Kathy Maier; one son, Danny Cox (Melissa); three grandchildren, Nikki Gore, Brady Cox and Kade Potts, and two great grandchildren, Jacob Gore and Jasper Gore.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sheila Kay Cox; and three brothers, Milton Henry Cox, Jimmy Lee Cox and Danny Ray Cox.
Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Jordan, Kevin Potts, Jerry Gore, Ray Hall, Jeff Williams and Larry Joe Williams.
In honor of Mr. Cox’s military service, United Funeral Service will fly the U.S. Army Flag during his visitation and service.

Jessica Gurley
HAMILTON – Jessica Nicole Gurley, 20, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus as the result of an automobile accident. She was born June 27, 1991, to Kimberly Anne Smothers Gurley and Alan Gurley in Amory. She was a lifelong resident of Monroe County. She graduated from Hamilton High School in 2009 and attended Itawamba Community College. She was a member of Aberdeen First Baptist Church. She was a babysitter, and an employee of Dollar General and Town & Country Steak House. She was a loving caring person who had a great love for children. She dearly loved her family and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Aberdeen First Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Thomas, Rev. Roy McKay and Rev. Steve Lampkin officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Rest Cemetery. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen will be in charge of the services.
Survivors include her father, Alan Gurley of Hamilton; one sister, Caitlin Leigh Gurley and special friend, Daniel Lucas, of Aberdeen; one brother, Christopher Alan Gurley and wife, Taylor, of Virginia Beach, Va.; her grandparents, Jerry and Ann Smothers of Aberdeen; her great-grandfather, Robert Smothers and wife, Betty, of Hamilton; her stepfather, Duane Ott of Aberdeen; a special friend, Lisa Cooper; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Kimberly Smothers Gurley, and her grandparents, John and Lois Gurley.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Reeves, Nathan Reeves, Daniel Lucas, Clint Payne, Nicholas Butters and Chad Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Class of 2009.

John M. Wallis
BALDWYN – John M. “Sonny” Wallis, 67, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was a retired mechanic. He enjoyed fishing and camping.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. David Haynes and Bro. Rex Bullock officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Monte Wallis; two sons, Keith Wallis and Joel Wallis, both of Baldwyn; one daughter, Sandra Bryson of Baldwyn; four grandchildren, Jessica Rogers (Adam) of Guntown, Michael and Lauren Wallis of Booneville, and Brittney Bryson of Baldwyn; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth “Bud” Wallis (Betty), Jim Wallis (Lisa) and Forrest “Skeet” Wallis (Debbie); two sisters, Annie Merle Ardis and Kathy Fleming (Jimmy); and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lus Wallis and Pearl Wallis Jackson.

Bobby Wray McCarley
BALDWYN – Bobby Wray McCarley, 71, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at his son’s home after an extended illness. He was born in Marion County, Ala. He enjoyed spending time with his family. A deacon of Parkview Baptist Church, he will be forever loved and missed by many.
Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Lawrence and Bro. Mike Franklin. Graveside service will follow in Currytown cemetery in Cherokee, Ala.
He is survived by three sons, Rickey McCarley (Kellie), Rodger McCarley (Rhonda) and Robby McCarley; 11 grandchildren, Sgt. Wesley S. McCarley (Shanna), Misty Applegate (Chad), Tony McCarley (Ashley), Joey McCarley, Randal McCarley (Lindsey), Cody McCarley, Jessica Stewart (Brandon), Lauren Mathis (Shain), Justin Wiginton, Lindsey Dunn (Jesse) and Summer Mocaby; 12 great-grandchildren, Maddox and Hayden McCarley, Ethan and Shaylee Applegate, Hagen and Liza McCarley, Kira McCarley, Makenzie and Landon Stewart, Jackson and Joe Mathis, and Tristin Dunn; two sisters, Gene Hester (Richard) and Nell Pierce; a sister-in-law, Ann McCarley; a special niece, Judy Wilkerson (Gary); a great-nephew, Seth Wilkerson (Whitney); mephews, Timmy McCarley and Tracy McCarley; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Icy Maye Cleveland.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Betty Jean McCarley; his parents, Garvin and Ruby McCarley; his brother, Lee McCarley; infant brother and sister; and a brother-in-law, Price Pierce.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Sgt. Wesley S. McCarley, Tony McCarley, Joey McCarley, Randal McCarley, Cody McCarley, Shain Mathis, Brandon Stewart, Chad Applegate and Jesse Dunn.

Danny McKeown
GUNTOWN – Danny McKeown, 60, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was a great musician and songwriter. He was a Christian.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Hamblin officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Downs McKeown of Alpine; his mother, Eleanor McKeown of Alpine; one brother, Gene McKeown of Alpine; two nieces, Sandy Cox and Gina Sevilla.
He was preceded in death by his father, James E. McKeown.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Cummings, Roger Butler, Jerry Comer, Eric Russell, Eddie Russell and Dwight Hall.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.
Florence E. Bryant
BLUE MOUNTAIN – Florence Elizabeth Wells Bryant, 83, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Ripley. She was born Sept. 30, 1927, to Roy Wells and Lillie Watkins Wells. She was a member of The Sanctuary in New Albany. She was a dedicated Christian and an avid Bible reader. She loved going to church and loved her family.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tony Baker and Bro. Stacy Stark officiating. Burial will be in Blue Mountain Cemetery.
She is survived by three daughters, Cheryl Spellins (Lonnie) and Marilyn Fuller (Herbert), all of Blue Mountain, and Patricia Wiley (Jerry) of Mission, Texas; three sisters, Helen Brewer of Bethany, Okla., Alma Allard (Jim) of Edmond, Okla., and Barbara Kleimeyer of Milford, Ohio; one brother, Joe Wells (Wanda) of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one brother-in-law, Alson Strong of Remus, Mich.; six grandchildren, Jess Spellins (Benecia) and Sarah Rodgers (Michael), all of Ripley, Judith Thompson (Casey) of New Albany, Joel Spellins (Marsha) of Sherman, James Fuller (Jennifer) of Blue Mountain and Daniel Wiley of Mission Texas; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Oran Bryant; her parents; one brother, Roy Wells; one sister, Flora Strong; one sister-in-law, Virginia Wells; and two brother-in-laws, Bill Kleimeyer and Joe Brewer.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
