SALTILLO – Claudia A. “Clyde” Glescic-Smith was born Feb. 1, 1936, to Neal and Mable Greenaway of Cleveland, Ohio. She was called home on July 9, 2012, after a brief illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Bernard and Roger Greenaway; her sister, Audrey Van Nostran; and her best dog, Molly.
She leaves behind her husband, Bill; children, Robert Arendt, Denice Wooldridge (Mike) and Reneé Arendt-Belk, all of Tupelo; grandsons, Daniel J. Romig Jr., John R. Romig, Robbie Arendt and Joseph Scott Arendt, all of Tupelo; several great-grandchildren. Claudia will leave heavy hearts to a host of other “adopted” family members, special friends, and her faithful companions, Harley and Packrat.
Claudia was proud of her nursing profession and served many years at the North Mississippi Medical Center and in later years at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany. She was truly a free spirit and enjoyed life to its fullest. Those who knew her understood that there were no boundaries with Clyde.
A celebration of her life will be shared with those who loved her on Friday, the 13th of July 2012, at 6 p.m. at Westside Baptist Church with Bro. Ray Ware and Bro. Tillmon Calvert officiating. BALDWYN – Elisabeth “Libby” Frost, 70, died Sunday, July 8, 2012, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born April 22, 1942, to Leonard and Lillian Macgruda Holloman. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Guntown and a retired clerk for R.L. Estes in Tupelo. She enjoyed cross stitching, reading and extending birthday greetings to family and friends.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Robbins officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Billy Frost of Baldwyn; one daughter, Melanie Frost of Amory; one son, Robert Frost of Baldwyn; a sister, Lillian Ann Johnson (Mark) of North Carolina; a brother, Jupe Macgruda of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Brandon Frost (Brittney), Misty Chapman (Corey) and Blake Frost; four great-grandchildren, Brandon, Tanner, Tucker and Bailey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Lou Owen; and a brother, Nathan White.

TUPELO – Ann Lumpkin McLendon, 92, died Monday, July 9, 2012, at the Martin House at Traceway. She was born June 22, 1920, to Houston and Chester Dare Lumpkin of Tupelo. She met her husband, Larry, in 1939 at Riley’s Jewelers in Tupelo. They married in 1942 and they were married 62 years before his death in September 2004. She was a wonderful Christian wife and mother as well as a homemaker and member of the First Christian Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors. Burial will be at Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include one son, Larry L. McLendon III of Tupelo; one sister, Doris Gooden of Tucson, Ariz.; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry L. McLendon Jr.; two brothers, Elford Lumpkin and Houston Lumpkin Jr.; three sisters, Margaret Martin, Katherine Jones and Nell Snipes.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Friday until service time at the funeral home.

MANTACHIE – Roger Thornton, 73, died Monday, July 9, 2012. He was born April 4, 1939, in Itawamba County to Cecil and Opal Rowan Thornton. He enjoyed his horses, gardening, bird hunting and spending time with is grandchildren. He was a minister for 12 years and a member of Center Star Masonic Lodge 322 since 1961. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite and a member of Tombigbee Baptist Church. He worked for Patterson Engineering for 30 years before his retirement. He was caregiver for his wife, Ann, since 2006.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Senter Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton. Bro. Dempsey Rowland and Bro. Rodney Lindsey will officiate, and Sam Patterson will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Stephens Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ann Thornton; one daughter, Kristi Wagster (Chris) of Mantachie; three sons, DeWayne Thornton (Debbie) of Marietta; Darryl Thornton (Libby) of Bay Springs and Troy Thornton (Pam) of Mantachie; four sisters, Alvia Burleson of Kenosha, Wis., Virginia Jamerson of Winthrop Harbor, Ill., Jane Fielder (Gordon) of Tupelo and Anita Akers (Roger) of Amory; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Estes, Tony Rodriguez, Hardin Patterson, Brent McMillen, Nick Nichols, Lowery Smith and Vaudry Edge.
Honorary pallbearers will be Payne Thornton, Drew Wagster, Sonny Jefcoat, Chris Foster, James A. Frederick, James Kitchens and his nephews.

GREENWOOD SPRINGS – Annie Christine Pace Bruff, 93, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Pioneer Community Hospital in Aberdeen. She was born April 24, 1919, to Russell Birdsong Pace and Margie Lee Lewis Pace in Aberdeen. She was a lifelong resident of Monroe County. She retired as a nurses aide at Hill Crest Manor Nursing Home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Bro. Robert Earl Fowlkes officiating. Burial will be in Lann Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Gloria Bruff Sandlin of Greenwood Springs; two grandchildren, Barbara Ballard and Jimmy Sandlin; three great-grandchildren, Tabitha Elway, Kim Renea Riggan and David Ballard; eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Charlie Pace; and one grandchild, Russell Lee Sandlin.

RIPLEY – Jacqueline Denise “Pepper” McDonald, 51, died Monday, July 9, 2012, at the Tippah County Hospital in Ripley. She was born Aug. 4, 1960, in Tippah County to Lillie Gertrude Strong and D.L. Johnson. She joined St. John M.B. Church at an early age. She worked several years at Red Kap Industries and various other places. She was an employee of McDonald’s for 10 years and currently a shift manager of McDonald’s in Ripley.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Moses Chapel United Methodist Church in Ripley. The Rev. Lowell Perry will officiate. Burial will be in Boyd Cemetery in Ripley. Foster and Son Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her father, D.L. (Jimmie Dale) Johnson of Ripley; five sisters, Lydia Viola (Roy Dale) Storey of Ripley, Michelle Johnson of Ripley, Lisa (Bruce) Williams of Ashland, Sharon (Ira) Walls of Holly Springs and Glenda (James) Godwin of Ripley; two brothers, Timothy (Jackie) Johnson and Tommie Joe (Christine) Johnson, both of Ripley; three aunts, Eloise (William) Strong, Birdie Jackson and Annette McDonald, all of Ripley; a special sister, Miranda Strong; and a goddaughter, Dakota Rucker.

BOONEVILLE – Wanda Jean Gray, 61, died Monday, July 9, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. She was born March 10, 1951, in Prentiss County. She was a graduate of Booneville High School and Northeast Mississippi Community College. She was a Pentecostal, and she was a sales clerk at the Booneville Walmart store. She enjoyed flowers and puzzle books.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry Hill officiating. Jennifer Ashcraft Johnson will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Gray, whom she married on Oct. 14, 1978; a son, Michael Gray of Booneville; and two sisters, Shirley Isbell (Bill) and Geraldine Hester (Terry), all of Booneville.
She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Aaron Gray; her parents, Carl and Ruth Ashcraft; two sisters, Zera Grace Ashcraft and Eloise Butler; and three brothers, Roy Ashcraft, Bobby Ashcraft,and C.C. “Pick” Ashcraft.
Pallbearers are Danny Isbell, Randy Isbell, David Qualls, Logan Howe, Buddy Johnson, Phil Mardis and Jerry Mardis.
CORINTH – John Dallas “Hoot” Crow, 62, died Saturday, July 7, 2012, at his home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Corinth. Burial will be in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
