PONTOTOC – Sharon G. Coleman, 57, died Monday, July 23, 2012, at Graceland Care Center in New Albany.
Services will be at noon today at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc. Burial will be in the Ingomar Cemetery.

TUPELO – James Ewell Kilgore, 60, died Sunday, July 22, 2012, after a battle with cancer. He was born on July 15, 1952, to Aurther Richard and Iris Louise Kilgore in Star City, Ark. He was a graduate of Lee High in Columbus and served in the U.S. Third Army in Neumberg, Germany, for two years. In his early years, he managed Jack’s Hamburgers, worked for Sealtest Dairy and Tupelo Coca-Cola. He was also salesman for Allen Henry Company and Hopkinsville Milling Company for over 15 years. In April 1994, he and his wife, Jeannine, opened Kilgore’s Supermarket on South Gloster Street in Tupelo, and his son, Jason, joined the business in 2003. James became a Christian early in life and enjoyed serving his Lord in various church and community ministries. He was a faithful member of Harrisburg Baptist Church and Morrison/Smith Sunday School class. He loved to play golf, go duck hunting, visit the beach and build sand alligators with his grandchildren, ride his motorcycle, and visit friends and family who were shut-in or home-bound. He was a loving husband to his wife, a great father to his children, and a fun Pappaw to his grandchildren as well as a great Christian influence and role model in their lives. He was a successful businessman and a wonderful friend to many.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Harrisburg Baptist Church in Tupelo with the Rev. David Langerfeld and Dr. Forrest Sheffield officiating. Burial will follow at Tupelo Memorial Park & Gardens on Joyner Avenue in Tupelo. Holland Funeral Directors, Tupelo Chapel is entrusted with the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Jeannine Kilgore; his children, Jason Kilgore (Melissa) of Tupelo, Andrea Kilgore of Tupelo, Jason Wommack (Tammy) of Woodstock, Ill., and Melinda Wommack Conerly of Tupelo; his grandchildren, Peyton and Parker Robertson, Reed Conerly, all of Tupelo, Ashlee Cooper of North Carolina, and Jacob Cooper of Illinois. He is also survived by his sisters Betty McElrath (John) of Columbus, Carolyn Elam (Kelly) of Aberdeen; his brothers, Richard Kilgore (Linda) of Birmingham, Ala., and Ronnie (Linda) Fisher of Little Rock, Ark.; a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews; a multitude of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a wife, Carol Nanney Kilgore, and his grandparents.
Pallbearers will be William “Buddy” Long, Gary Pounders, Johnny Redmond, Gary Jennings, Ron Watkins, Lonnie Bell, Pete Gibson, Jim Hawkins, Charlie Estes, Peyton Robertson, Parker Robertson, and Reed Conerly. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Kilgore Supermarket, members of the Morrison/Smith Sunday School Class of Harrisburg Baptist Church, and Scott Conerly, Brandon Conerly, Tim Keith and Robbie Hutcheson.

ACKERMAN – Jimmie Lou Henderson, 95, died Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Choctaw County Nursing Home in Ackerman. She was born Dec. 18, 1916, in Choctaw County. She was a retired teacher with 34 years of service.

BLUE MOUNTAIN – Robert Derek Rodgers, 32, died Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis. He was born April 19, 1980, to Robert Nelson and Sandra Gail Rodgers. He was a staff sergeant at the Marshall County Correctional in Holly Springs. He was dedicated to his team members and an active CERT member. A beloved husband, father, son and friend, he worked very hard at keeping those he loved safe inside and outside his facility.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Blue Mountain with Bro. Joe McKnight and AWO Michael Millwood officiating. Burial will be in church cemetery. Ripley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

HAMILTON – Allie Frances Basham Frazier, 90, died Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Pioneer Community Hospital in Aberdeen. She was born Sept. 29, 1921, to Dr. James Woodie Basham and Mable Crosby Basham in Monroe County. She was a lifelong resident of Hamilton. She retired as a nurse at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, and also worked at Hamilton Post Office and Cadence Bank. She was a member of Hamilton Presbyterian Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Lee Murff officiating. Burial will be in Ross Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Edward “Chuck” Frazier of Hamilton; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Stacy Gilliland, Adeline Black, Mary Sue Murff, Manie Vardaman and Elizabeth Frazier; and two brothers, J.W. Basham Jr. and John Basham.

BLUE SPRINGS – Nathan Eugene Bramlett, 83, died Sunday, July 22, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born July 11, 1929, in Union County to Philip Wesley Bramlett and Mamie Alice Howard Bramlett. He was a truck driver for Brookwood. As a teenager, following his father’s death, he helped support and raise his sisters and brothers as well as helping to raise some of his own grandchildren. He always put other people’s needs before his own. He was a member of the Parks Baptist Church.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the United Funeral Service Chapel in New Albany with the Rev. Frank Wilder officiating. Burial will be in the Parks Cemetery. United Funeral Service in New Albany is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Clarice Rosa “Nell” Windham Bramlett of Blue Springs; two daughters Kathy Bramlett Reed and Mary Jane Owens, both of Blue Springs; two sons, John Bramlett and David Bramlett, both of Blue Springs; two sisters, Lorene Bramlett of Blue Springs, Mo., and Mary France and Boyd of Memphis; three brothers, Frank Bramlett of Ingomar, Philip Bramlett III of New Albany and Kenneth Bramlett of Blue Springs; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Wanda Bramlett Rodgers; a son, James Joshua “Josh” Bramlett; and two brothers, Billy Bramlett and Robert Bramlett.

She was an R.N. with Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. She previously worked with Calhoun Health Service and Bruce Community Living Center. She was a graduate of Bruce High School. She received her R.N. degree from Itawamba Community College and her B.S. degree from Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Republican Women’s Club, Blue House Homemakers Club and active participant in Relay for Life.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce. Bro. Sherman Adams will officiate, and Bro. David Poynor will assist. Burial will be in New Liberty Cemetery in Vardaman.

CLUTE, Texas – Karen Amy Young Tyson, 45, of Brazoria, Texas, died Thursday, July 19, 2012, in Angleton, Texas. She was born Friday, Feb. 10, 1967, in Little Rock, Ark., to Alfred Ross and Mary Laverne Marrs Young. She loved life, and enjoyed spending time outdoors and taking care of her peacocks, ducks and chickens. She had a fondness for animals and would accept any stray, including a goat.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis Tyson of Brazoria, Texas; children, Matthew Tyson of Splendora, Texas, Dilan Tyson and Kade Tyson of Brazoria. and Jessica Tyson-Norris of Angleton. Texas; her father, Alfred Ross of Brazoria; brother, Johnnie Young (Linda) of Houston, Miss.; sisters Debbie Young (Bobby) and Denise Kemp (Billy), both of Brazoria, and Diane Weatherford (Denny) of Tupelo; grandchildren, Tara and Braxton Norris; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Hallmark, Jake Young, Michael Alford, Katherine Kemp and Brittany Weatherford.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ross and Amy Young, formerly of Houlka; her mother, Mary Lavern Young; and her brother, Michael Ross Young.

BOONEVILLE – Maxine Godwin Canon, 86, died Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Trinity Healthcare Nursing Home in Columbus. She was born Jan. 30, 1926, in Marietta to Jesse Cleveland Godwin and Belvia Cunningham Godwin. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Booneville, the Business and Professional Women’s Club, and the Republican Party. She was Administrative Assistant to the Columbus Air Force Base Commander. She was an assistant teacher and the Prentiss County School Superintendent’s secretary. In later years, she worked in the law office of her brother, James Godwin. She enjoyed bridge, cooking, reading and poetry.
Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. today at Booneville Cemetery, with Dr. Gayle Alexander officiating. Booneville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by two daughters, Marjorie Canon of Columbus and Linda Durand of Greenwood; a sister, Margaret Goddard of Booneville; a grandson, Robin Durand of New Orleans; her second husband, Dr. William Ward Canon of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Elvin Eugene Buckingham; her parents; three brothers, James Newton Godwin, Jesse Cleveland Godwin Jr. and William Robert Godwin; and two sisters, Marie Godwin Wright and Marjorie Godwin Davis.

RIPLEY – Beulah Hodges Jones, 90, died Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Tippah County Nursing Home in Ripley. She was born Tuesday, March 7, 1922, to Walter and Virgie Chunn Hodges in Tippah County. She was a retired LPN working as a surgical nurse for Decatur Hospital in Decatur, Ala. She also worked for 10 years as director of First Baptist Church Day Care in Ripley. She also owned and operated Jones Fabric Store in Ripley and ran Jones Clothing Manufacturing Inc. from her home. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Star.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley with Dr. Rex Yancy and Dr. Jack Bennett. Burial will be in Tippah Memorial Gardens in Ripley.
Survivors include three daughters, Lois Hill of Ripley, Joan Miller of Ripley and Kay Wyatt (Larry) of Childersberg, Ala.; one son, Fred Jones (Jeanette) of Muscle Shaols, Ala.; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Virginia Hodges of Ripley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Allen Jones, in 2005; and her parents, three sisters and four brothers.

AMORY – Hal Gene Young, 82, died on Sunday, July 22, 2012, at the Oak Tree Plantation in Amory. Born July 18, 1930, he was a son of the late Gene Young and Maggie Carroll Young Vanoven. A graduate of Smithville High School, he was also a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked in the garment industry and retired from Amory Garment Co. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Amory Church of Christ.
