GOP changes tunes from its power years
The law has passed, it’s official and American citizens are benefiting from the Affordable Care Act known as Obamacare. Yet, within the halls of the House of Representatives, insanity is alive and well. Insanity is known as performing the same action over and over while expecting different results. After voting 42 times to defund the ACA, we can now say that Congress has achieved its goal of supreme madness.
But wait! There’s more. Now, Congress wants to completely shut down the government. Apparently, the devastating effects that could result from such action is of no concern to Congressional members.
The GOP has had to endure the loss of two presidential elections. Obviously this has created an intense amount of anger which has resulted in behavior similar to a child not getting his way. Now they are throwing temper tantrums, slinging their toys from one wall to the other.
I find it quite amusing that the Republican Party demonstrates grave concern about spending when they do not occupy the White House. During the Bush/Cheney years, we were hauled into two unfunded, unnecessary wars as well as repeated tax breaks for the wealthy. Cheney even commented that the deficit didn’t matter. Why now?
The “train wreck” to which the ACA is referred, is actually the discord and dissension that engulfs today’s Republican Party. Listen closely and you will hear it.
Here’s a thought about spending reduction; let’s put Congress on minimum wage. After all, they feel that it’s fine for everyone else.
If Congress does manage to shut down the government, let’s hope they remember the quote from “Forrest Gump”; “Stupid is as stupid does.”
