Kathleen Parker ignores the Bible’s true message
The article by Kathleen Parker, “Haiti should transcend race-baiting and ignorance” on Monday, Jan. 18, ignores truth and baits minds to face the greatest tragedy of all.
“ … Cursed is the ground for thy sake…” (Genesis 3:17)
“… And there shall be famines, and pestilence, and earthquakes in divers places.” (Matthew 24:7)
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” (Romans 5:12)
God is in control of earth’s scientific manifestations. “ … The Lord had His way in the whirlwind and in the storm … The mountains quake at Him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at His presence.” (Micah 1:3, 5)
God provides redemption. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16).
“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away … And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.” (Revelation 21: 1, 4)
No human can divine insight into who will receive and who will reject the Gospel. It is our responsibility to present this truth to all we can, at home and abroad. God has missionaries in Haiti and throughout the world. We can offer hope by helping to support them. Eternity will bear witness to the most important choices and transcend all mockery.
“ … There shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts.” (II Peter 3:3)
“And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation.” (II Corinthians 5:18)

Fox News, bought pols distort health care bill
Our forefathers thought they were passing down to us a government of the people, by the people and for the people.
Maybe they did.
But somewhere along the way the people’s government was ambushed. What we now have is a plutocracy. A government of, by and for the wealthy elite and special interest groups, with their obscene wealth being funneled through thousands of lobbyists to control every facet of this government, including the judiciary.
President Obama last year mentioned the desire for a health plan covering everyone, but since both the insurance industry and pharmaceutical industry opposed such a thing, they instantly began shoveling millions into the campaign buckets of our elected politicians, hinting that the health plan must be stopped. Then the Great American Propaganda Machine, Fox News Channel, entered the fray. And Fox together with our bought politicians managed to twist and distort every jot and tittle of the proposed health plan, until what is left is really not worth passing. Exactly what the opposition wanted.
The actions during the last few years of this mob of 545 career politicians in selling their vote to the highest bidder leads one to believe that instead of being called “The U.S. Congress” possibly another name would be more fitting. How about “World’s Largest Bordello”? And that is more polite than another coming to mind.
To our career politicians, the sweetest sound on Earth is “thirty pieces of silver” as it drops into their bucket.

Financial bondage awaits grandchildren over debt
Please allow me to vent my frustrations with regard to what has been and is going on in Washington D.C.
We no longer have a government by and for the people. The Constitution is not honored as a guideline in decisions. People in government are lining their pockets on the backs of the taxpayers as evidenced by bonuses in light of slow economics.
The subjects of global warming , the health care bill, Guantanamo detainees and others are small potatoes as compared to real issues of honesty and integrity.
I’m afraid we are being governed from Chicago and not from the District of Columbia. The height of hypocrisy is the effort to teach the leaders of Afghanistan and other nations how to have a corruption-free government.
We are moving in the wrong direction. Our great-grandchildren will be in bondage financially over today’s irresponsible decisions. Enough said.
