PATSY BRUMFIELD: Remember our losses in Vietnam

By Patsy R. Brumfield/NEMS Daily Journal

“War is the unfolding of miscalculations.” – Barbara Tuchman, U.S. historian
Just yesterday, as we celebrated our country’s birthday, our hearts swelled with emotion to hear those patriotic anthems.
We rejoice with such fervor in our high notes, but our low notes so often go unsung.
The Vietnam War was one of those notes many Americans forget.
I especially think of one friend, who came home alive but whose wonderful spirit was forever crushed by the horror of his experience. He was not alone.
Today, we see our countrymen and women return from 21st century conflicts. We cannot forget the price they pay.
Take the time to remember our neighbors whose Vietnam sacrifices were ultimate.
