Gosh, don’t you just love Halloween? The chill in the air, the chill up your spine.
Ghost stories, elaborate costumes, “Thriller.”
I love that Halloween is so versatile. There’s something for everyone, from those who want to simply celebrate fall and pumpkins and scarecrows, to those of us who want to turn our front yards into graveyards.
Halloween is about letting yourself get spooked all in the name of a good time.
Anytime I get seriously scared, I’ve learned to laugh – which makes it all that much more fun.
Halloween’s one of my favorite seasons, and I know I’m not alone.
If you or someone you know is an adult who goes all out on Halloween – maybe they have big yard decorations, make their own costumes or throw huge parties – send them my way.
I’m looking to do a story on adults who love Halloween, and really celebrate the season in the biggest way.
Help a girl out, OK?

Gosh, don’t you just hate Halloween?
OK, I don’t, really, but this year it’s been harder for me to celebrate the season.
I’m trying to lose 75 pounds.
I’ve cut refined sugar from my diet, a tough move for a sweet tooth like myself, but it’s actually worked out well. I’ve lost 25 pounds and no longer crave sweets.
That is, until, I go shopping for Halloween decorations and am faced with wall-to-wall bags of Halloween candy.
If you think about it, basically every Halloween treat is sweet. It’s at the heart of the trick-or-treating season.
I’ll admit: I’ve had some candy corn. And when I celebrate Halloween with my best friends, I’m sure to have a sweet, since one of my friends is a pastry chef.
Still, I’m determined to be (mostly) good this Halloween. After all, my taste for many sweets is gone, so that makes it easier. Every once in a while, though, when I do have something sweet, it tastes just as good as it used to, and that makes it harder. I guess it’s just the give and take of the season.
Perhaps I should focus instead on my awesome costume and watching as many scary movies as I can. That’ll scare the cravings out of me, right?
If you’re battling the same weight loss demons I am, feel free to follow my progress and talk about what you’re doing at my new weight loss blog, Keep Running.
It can be found at NEMS360.com/pages/keep_running.
Maybe together we can help keep the sweet-tooth monsters at bay.
