The Roberts family is held firmly in our hearts as the Coast, and many in the world beyond South Mississippi say farewell to their beloved matriarch, Lucimarian Roberts.
There was something spiritual and quite strong in her that made Mrs. Roberts seem like a mother to us all.
The long-time educator passed away in the peace of her enduring faith Aug. 30 at her Pass Christian home, surrounded by those she loved.
Some would note that she was a trailblazer, a black woman who was the first of her race and gender to do so many things.
Wherever they have gone, the Roberts family has served as wonderful ambassadors for Pass Christian, and following Katrina, Robin Roberts became our most ardent and effective advocate.
Lucimarian Roberts was a fine listener, and when she had something to say, you wanted to listen closely because her carefully chosen words were likely to lead to consensus and solution.
