May Fest

BancorpSouth Center

will be the event site

Organizers of an event called Black Expo May Fest (May 23-25 in Tupelo) could be on to something big for economic development and entertainment in the region’s African American community.

The event at BancorpSouth Center is promoting participation from a five-state region, and its officials expect several thousand people to register.

The spacious coliseum provides plenty of room for different venues and activities in the same building, creating easy access and diverse participation. Those joining in as registered participants probably will include churches, social/fraternal organizations, private entrepreneurs, and entertainers.

Choices will range from black business development to family-focused activities to formal galas. Various levels of sponsorship and support are available as well as weekend packages and day tickets.

Northeast Mississippi – where race relations have been on an even keel for decades – offers the right atmosphere for the event’s success.

The office number for the event committee is 680-6478.
