YOUR OPINION: It’s time to clean house in the capital

CNN news has reported that President Obama wants to raise the debt ceiling again by $14.2 trillion. This will increase the deficit over $16 trillion. The super committee’s goal was to reduce the deficit by a similar amount over 10 years. If it would take 10 years to reduce the deficit by this amount, what are we going to do about the other $15 trillion?
Obama is spending our country into a financial disaster and Congress is doing nothing to stop him because the Democrats and Republicans will not work together. They can’t keep the government operating longer than two months!
We as voters need to deny Obama a second term in office and send all congressional incumbents who have served two or more terms home permanently. And then insist that the newly elected congressmen put the deficit at the top of the “to do” list.
They could start by reducing the size of government, stop all bonuses to federal employees, eliminate “no bid” contracts and cost over runs. Pass a bill that would keep pay increases to all federal employees, Congress, included, the same as our COLA increases. Eliminate the income tax and go to a national sales tax. And then after all of this, they can take a look at entitlement programs.
But the first step is to clean house in Washington.
