Internet tax violates U.S. Constitution
This is in answer to Sid Salter and David Masters’ letter to the editor. An Internet tax is illegal and a violation of Section 9 of the federal Constitution. “No tax or duty shall be laid on articles exported from any state, no preference shall be given by a regulation of commerce or revenue to the ports of one state over those of another; nor shall vessels bound to, or from, one state be obligated to enter, clear or pay duties in another.”
It is an open violation of the federal Constitution to charge an import tax by a state from another state. We hope that the very plain wording of the federal Constitution is not too difficult for our legislators to understand.
Smith’s claims shaky about Obamacare
In answer to Lee Countian Lamar Smith’s opinion, this is my opinion.
Mr. Smith suggests that we get informed and educated on the Affordable Care Act as he is doing. I suggest that Mr. Smith read the article in the same newspaper as his article of June 7 titled “The Coming Obamacare Disaster” by Cal Thomas. I don’t know where he got his information, but I will take Cal Thomas’s opinion and information any day. If the same type program didn’t work for England’s citizens, what makes him think it will be good for the U.S. citizens? Neither did it work for Europe during the depression years. Hopefully Congress will awaken and see what’s right to help our nation.
