Ole Miss men’s basketball non-SEC schedule out

Ole Miss will face five teams that made the NCAA Tournament in 2014 in the coming men’s basketball season.

The non SEC portion of the Rebels’ schedule was released to the public late Wednesday afternoon. Ole Miss will play against Creighton, Oregon, Dayton, Coastal Carolina and possibly against coach Andy Kennedy’s old school, Cincinnati.

“We designed our non-conference schedule to prepare us for the rigors of SEC play,” Kennedy said in a release. “We feel this schedule will challenge us with NCAA Tournament-level games against teams like Creighton, Cincinnati, Dayton, Middle Tennessee, Oregon and TCU, that will prepare our team for life in the SEC.”

Ole Miss will open the season against Charleston Southern on Nov. 14 before hitting the road to play at Troy on Nov. 17.

The Rebels host TCU on Dec. 4 as part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. That contest had already been announced. Ole Miss could play Cincinnati, or Middle Tennessee State, in the 2014 Emerald Coast Classic.
