Holloway’s GrindTime camp begins Friday
The former Ole Miss men’s basketball standout, who helped lead the Rebels to the NCAA Tournament in 2013, is hosting the camp at the Oxford Park Commission Activity Center Friday through Sunday. On-site registration will begin Friday at 8 a.m. The cost of the camp is $200 per camper.
The mission of the event, which is geared towards ages 6 through 17, is to provide a safe environment to develop life skills, sportsmanship, team skills, while also learning and improving the fundamentals of basketball. Campers are expected to learn to improve their ball handling, shooting and passing skills during the three-day event.
During his time in Oxford as a student-athlete, Holloway routinely volunteered at the local Boys & Girls Club, and spent time reading to students at both Bramlett Elementary and Della Davidson Elementary.
Holloway graduated from Ole Miss in May 2013, and has been in Pro-Am leagues and in other professional ranks since. The Irmo, S.C., native finished his four-year career at Ole Miss as the all-time rebounder in school history and he is the only player in SEC history to score 1,400 points, pull down 1,000 rebounds and record 190 steals in a career.
Some of Holloway’s former teammates at Ole Miss, including point guard Chris Warren and power forward Terrance Henry, have signed up to assist and teach skills each day.
GrindTime is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday mornings, and run until 5 p.m. each day. Sunday’s camp schedule is 3 to 6 p.m.
