Residents and visitors alike won't just have a chance to watch the Ole Miss Rebels culminate their Spring Football training efforts with the Red and Blue Scrimmage on Saturday, April 21, 2012, in Oxford. Early that morning, the University campus will be full of runners and walkers participating in the inaugural "Hotty Toddy Run for the Roses" 5K and 1 mile fun run for kids being organized by Alumnae and active members of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority in memory of one of their departed sisters, Dr. Candy Carlisle Derivaux, formerly of Vicksburg. To honor the untimely passing of their sister in October 2010, the AOPi sorority is striving to honor her life by endowing a scholarship to honor Candy's gift of love and friendship. Proceeds from the race will help them achieve this goal. The Ole Miss Campus is the site of the 3.2 mile course with the starting line at the Ole Miss Union. The race is set to start at 7 am. Anyone interested in running or walking can register online at www.msracetiming.com. The cost is $25 per person and $35 on race day for this sanctioned race.Sponsor opportunities are also available and more information can be obtained by contacting any member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority.
