Construction plans have been submitted for the two hotels to be built where the old Howard Johnson sat at McCullough Boulevard/North Gloster Street.

If you recall, hotelier Bruce Patel's Fusion Hospitality plans to build a Candlewood Suites and a Holiday Inn on the site.

The plans  show a four-story, 79-room Candlewood Suites and a five-story, 121-room Holiday Inn. Those 200 rooms will more than make up for the 124 rooms that went away with the HoJo's demolition

The Holiday Inn also will have a restaurant with 57 seats, according to the plans.

We spoke to Alan Burns, the senior director of operations for Fusion Hospitality, who said the construction timetable will depend on getting the necessary approvals from the city. Patel said in earlier interviews that he hoped to open the hotels by the first quarter of next year.
