A blog post from Parthenon Publishing (full post):
Each year I eagerly anticipate the publication of Oxford American‘s Southern music issue.
...
Inside this issue is also an advertisement that immediately caught my eye. The ad, placed by Tupelo Convention & Visitors Bureau, features a striking 1969 promo photo of Mississippi native Elvis Presley with the instructional caption “Scan the code and place your smart phone on the king’s mouth for a unique Elvis sighting you won’t soon forget.”
I couldn’t resist. I launched a QR reader app on my iPhone and scanned the code. A YouTube link was loading as I placed the phone under the king’s nose. I couldn’t help but chuckle at what I saw next.
Click here to experience the online version. What a fun idea; a truly inspired mashup and a great example of how print, digital and mobile technologies can work together to create a memorable reader experience. A unique Elvis sighting indeed.
