BancorpSouth said it should be finished tonight with all refunds related to an error that withdrew money twice from customers' accounts (read more).
Randy Burchfield said the bank on Wednesday successfully credited all of the money back to customers' accounts for the second withdrawal. An error caused all PIN-entry debit and ATM transactions from the weekend to be posted twice.
Burchfield also said that any related overdraft fees were refunded Wednesday night.
Tonight, he said the bank will refund any transfer fees to customers who have linked accounts. For example, if your checking account is linked to a credit card account for overdraft protection, BancorpSouth charges a fee to transfer the money. Burchfield said the bank is refunding the fee if its error caused the checking account to overdraw.
He also said the bank continues to investigate the cause of the error.
