We checked out the hiring fair at the McDonald's on South Gloster/President streets this morning and describing it as busy would be an understatement.
The hiring push, which lasts until 6 p.m. today, is for the new McDonald's being built on Eason Boulevard, next to the Sprint Mart. That location is scheduled to open next month and will replace the location on South Gloster in front of Kilgore's Grocery and Wall's.
About 90 employees will work at the Eason store, most of whom will be transferred over from the South Gloster store. So, that means McDonald's is looking to hire about 40 employees from today's pool of applicants, who numbered well over 100 by the time we got there around 8:30 this morning. In fact, there were about 30 people already waiting at about 7 a.m.
Hudson Management Corp., which owns and operates the McDonald's in Tupelo (but not the one in Belden at the Love's Travel Store), Saltillo and New Albany, employs about 600 people.
