Chere Clark, 40, of 2636 Highway 370, Baldwyn, was charged with one count aggravated assault and one count kidnapping, with her bond set at $500,000.
Both are in custody in the Lee County jail.
Sheriff Jim Johnson said the incident began before midnight on Friday, when the 27-year-old victim was lured to a residence in the Pratts community by the suspects. There she was allegedly choked, beaten and had her hands and feet bound.
Johnson said the suspects, believing the victim was dead, took her to a remote location in a wooded area, where they poured lighter fluid on her body and into her mouth. The suspects set the victim and the surrounding area on fire and left the scene, he said.
The victim managed to extinguish the fire and get her legs free from the zip ties binding her feet, and she "walked a good distance" before coming to a residence where she asked for help, Johnson said. The homeowner dialed 911.
The victim was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center and later transferred to a burn center, where she is in critical but stable condition.
The suspects were taken into custody less than four hours after the incident was first reported.
"It's a gruesome act," Johnson said.
"We are hoping and praying for the victim's recovery."
No motive has been determined, Johnson said, because the victim can't speak with detectives yet due to extensive damage to her throat.
