ROMNEY/ PAUL QUOTE:

"Romney had to energize the base, which is why he picked Ryan...but he probably already had these people. What he does with a Ryan pick is turn off the middle and people who see SS as their right and not an entitlement. SS is something Americans pay into with our Tax money. It is the safety net that brought the elderly out of poverty. Now, you have two rich guys coming in and saying that you need balance the budget on the backs on those that have the least, while giving tax breaks to the wealthiest."

Religious Right Just Can’t Resist Exploiting Aurora Theater Tragedy...

by Clay F. Naff, Huffington Post, July 22, 2012, re-posted by ABratt

"On the American Family Association's radio program AFA Today, the hosts wasted no time lining up a far-right Evangelical minister, Jerry Newcombe of Truth in Action Ministries, to tell the audience that among the dead in the theater only those who were true Christians have gone to heaven. The rest, he suggested, are already consigned to hell."

ABratt's Favorite Web Quote: GOP Hypocrisy At It's Finest
by ABratt

"Republicans call democrats, liberals, and progressives communists and socialist but have no problem supporting legislation that continues to deregulate industries that fill our stores up with products manufactured in socialist and communist countries, that give tax breaks for industries to ship our jobs to socialist and communist countries and being from Alabama give tax breaks and many other perks to corporations from socialist countries such as Kia and Hyundai.

If anyone is a socialist or communist it is the republican party and the 1%."

Amen to that!!

"From Chimps Came Man, From Man Came God"–AB

HP, May 28,2012

"We may be on the cusp of some very real disasters that have nothing to do with whether the elephant survives, or a cheetah survives, but if we survive."– Richard Leakey

"NEW YORK -- Richard Leakey predicts skepticism over evolution will soon be history.

Not that the avowed atheist has any doubts himself."

"Sometime in the next 15 to 30 years, the Kenyan-born paleoanthropologist expects scientific discoveries will have accelerated to the point that ‘even the skeptics can accept it."’

"G a y s  being able to marry countrywide will NOT in any way destroy the sanctity of marriage.  Enough heterosexuals have done that already with the high divorce rate.  I know many  g a y  couples whose relationships have lasted much longer than most heterosexual marriage do these days.   Let  g a y s  marry.  They just might be an inspiration to heterosexuals strengthening their own marriages." -- Pro-marriage equality commentor

Traditional Marriage: ABratt's Favorite Quote From The Web
by ABratt

"I don't understand all this hue and cry and support for traditional marriage. The country has probably the highest divorce rate, domestic violence, child endangerment, homicides, restraining orders, children put at the mercy of violent parents in troubled marriages and the list goes on. Infants, toddlers and children just disappear from their bedrooms without a trace!

It is not a rosy picture if someone look[s] deep in to it. " -- Comment From The Web

My Favorite Comments From The Web by ABratt:

I often comment about equal rights for gays/lesbians, and in doing so, dispute the claims that some make that religion and the Bible justify their prejudice against homosexuality. In that Bible, God gave us ten rules to live by -- ten things not to do. He did not mention homosexuality. But, things he did prohibit are done all around us every day without anyone raising a complaint or trying to revoke the rights of those "sinners." Similarly, in the thousands of teachings attributed to Jesus Christ, he never mentioned homosexuality and certainly did not indicate that it was a problem. Often, that fact provokes angry responses from people saying that "just because Jesus didn't say it doesn't mean he didn't think it." Huh? Often, people send me the quotes from Leviticus and I Corinthians to justify their belief ("this means I have to condemn every homosexual"). But, those sections also prohibit eating shellfish, eating pork, wearing multiple fabrics, getting drunk -- but, the people who oppose our rights no longer consider any of them to be sinful anymore. Apparently, they met at a Red Lobster and exempted everyone but us . I believe that many of the people with whom I have exchanges realize that the religious justification is invalid. But, they still want to hang onto the prejudice that has been drilled into them that they refuse to acknowledge it and take another look at the issue. Gosh, I think Jesus would want them to do so.
