CORINTH – The Alcorn County Board of Supervisors has called a special meeting for Thursday to consider appointment of a county prosecutor after the two-term officeholder resigned.

Sunny Phillips submitted her resignation after losing her bid to serve a third term to Bob Moore in the Aug. 2 primary, according to the Daily Corinthian.

A source close to the situation who asked not to be named said Moore is likely to be appointed to take up his new post immediately.
