AMORY – AmoryNet, the free Internet service the Gilmore Foundation has provided for Amory residents the past six years, is being phased out.

The service costs the nonprofit about $500,000 to run and smartphone technology is curbing its use. Also, the foundation said an upgrade is needed but is not affordable.

The service, which will take around two years to phase out, still will be available at certain “communication hotspots” like Frisco Park and the Amory Regional Museum.
