Nutt singled out quarterback Jevan Snead, wide receiver Shay Hodge and utility player Dexter McCluster for combining on several big plays.
One player unavailable for Tuesday’s work was freshman safety Darius “Tig” Barksdale, who attended practice in street clothes.
Nutt was vague on the specifics surrounding Barksdale’s absence but mentioned the possibility of a heart murmur.
“We’ve always had two or three heart murmurs where they check everything out. I’m just hoping that’s it right now,” Nutt said.
More tests are pending for Barksdale, who is expected to provide depth behind current starter Johnny Brown.
Another freshman expected to make an impact is offensive tackle Bobby Massie.
Massie, having struggled to catch up to the speed of the game, has been moved from second team left tackle to second team right tackle behind starter John Jerry.
Junior college transfer Logan Clair, who arrived in time to go through spring drills, is now the back-up to Bradley Sowell on the left side.
