“King Lear” is one of three productions scheduled for the University of Mississippi’s ninth annual Shakespeare Festival. This season has been dubbed “A Season of Destiny.” “All’s Well that Ends Well” kicks off the festival Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Ford Center. “King Lear” will open June 23, followed by Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “The Sound of Music,”
opening June 28. The festival also includes a symposium on “Power and Tradition in King Lear,” on June 26, which is free. Tickets are $12/seniors/students/youth and $14/adults for the Shakespears plays and are $18 for “The Sound of Music.” Tickets are available by calling (662) 915-7411. Dulcimers bring sweet sounds
to Natchez Trace Parkway
Old-time favorites and gospel tunes are on the set list for the North Mississippi Dulcimer Association’s show at the Natchez Trace Parkway this weekend.
The group will perform from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the Parkway Visitor’s Center, located near milepost 266 in Tupelo. It’s a free show.

Linkin Park concert film
to screen at Cinemark
Rock band Linkin Park filmed its June 5 Berlin, Germany, concert, and now fans all over the world can see that show at 7:30 p.m. June 25.
The band is releasing the film to celebrate the release of its new album, “Living Things,” on June 26.
The movie will screen at Cinemark on June 25, and tickets are $11.50/adults, $10.50/students and seniors and $9.50/children.

Singers, directors wanted
for arts events in Tupelo
The Tupelo Symphony Orchestra needs singers for the Community Chorus to perform at Ballard Park on July 4.
The Chorus is open to anyone interested. Rehearsals are June 26 and July 2-3 at 7 p.m. at West Jackson Baptist Church., as well as a rehearsal July 4 at Ballard Park at 9:30 a.m. The Symphony and Chorus will take the stage that night at 8 p.m.

Faulkner movie, music on tap
for Summer Sunset Series
“Tomorrow,” a movie based on a William Faulkner story, will be screened Friday at New Albany’s Summer Sunset Series.
The Hatchie Bottom Boys will perform at 6:30 p.m., followed by the film at dark.
The Summer Sunset Series is free and takes place in Cooper Park in downtown New Albany.
