After bouncing through four major-league rosters since the end of the regular season, catcher Eli Whiteside finally saw his 2013 destination resolved on Friday.

The 33-year-old Whiteside cleared waivers and was assigned to the Texas Rangers’ Triple-A team at Round Rock (Texas). According to MLB.com, he’ll be a non-roster invitee to the Rangers’ big-league spring camp.

After finishing the season with the San Francisco Giants, he was claimed off waivers by the New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays and the Rangers.

Whiteside is a .215 hitter in 208 games with the Orioles (2005) and Giants (2009-12). He earned two World Series rings as a backup catcher in San Francisco.

Last season, he played in 60 games at Triple-A Fresno, hitting .224.
