Child mauled by pit bull in Marshall County

BYHALIA - A 9-year-old girl was airlifted Wednesday afternoon to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital after being attacked by a pit bull.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, the 9-year-old child was "mauled" by the dog at 181 Pinoak Drive and the call came in to 911 at 3:54 p.m.

A spokesman did not know the extent of her injuries, but they did not appear to be life-threatening.

The dog is in custody with animal control.
