Bobby P. Martin, the company’s chairman of the board, made the announcement Tuesday.
Childs joined The Peoples Bank in1990, following a 10-year tenure at by the Bank of Mississippi – now BancorpSouth – in Corinth.
She is a graduate of Mississippi State University with a bachelor’s degree in banking and finance.
Active in the community, Childs is a member of the board of trustees of Blue Mountain College, a board member and past president of the Boys & Girls Clubs of North Mississippi, treasurer for the Tippah County Mississippi State University alumni chapter and a volunteer for the Tippah County 4-H Clubs.
She also is a board member of the Mississippi Bankers Association.
