UPDATE: Rangers have identified the worker as Russell Hopkins, 27, of New Site, WTVA.com reports.

Officials tell the Daily Journal Hopkins has non-life threatening injuries and is expected to make a recovery.

At about 8:50 a.m. Thursday, a 2005 Chevy pickup truck struck a road worker on the Natchez Trace Parkway, according to Natchez Trace Chief Ranger Sarah Davis.

The worker was directing traffic at the construction work on Route 6 near Tupelo High School. The worker was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center and was conscious. No other details on the worker's condition were available.

The driver was not injured.

No names will be released until the investigation is complete. The investigation is continuing, but no citations have been written at this time.
