Tan White, a three-time Journal basketball player of the year from Tupelo, was cut Thursday from the roster of the WNBA’s Indiana Fever.

The 5-foot-7 White, the Fever’s top draft pick (No. 2 overall) in 2005 out of Mississippi State, averaged 9.2 points in 135 career games, including 34 starts. But she got caught in a numbers squeeze in Indiana, which had upgraded its roster at guard during the offseason.

White leaves Indianapolis as the second-leading scorer in franchise history, with 1,240 points.
