Gulf Coast plays Blinn in juco bowl

BILOXI — Gulf Coast Community College will play Blinn CC in the fourth Mississippi Bowl on Dec. 4 at Biloxi's Indian Stadium.

The Sun Herald reports that Blinn (9-1), in Southlake, Texas, is ranked fifth in the latest NJCAA poll, while Gulf Coast (9-2) is ninth.

Second-ranked East Mississippi (11-0), the state champion, is headed to the Toro Bowl on Dec. 3 to face Arizona Western (11-0) for the NJCAA National Championship.

Gulf Coast finished as the state runner-up, falling to East Mississippi 42-17.

Gulf Coast and Blinn have each won four NJCAA national titles.

Blinn won NJCAA titles in 1995, 1996, 2006, and 2009. Gulf Coast's national crowns came in 1948, 1971, 1984, and 2007.
