Fitting Concepts

Gina Petty bought Fitting Concepts in 2003, when owner Nell Lamberson retired. The business on Industrial Road specializes in prosthetics and mastectomy bras for breast cancer survivors.

“Whey then have just recently had surgery and these processes are new to them, we hope they find a little peace from the overall visit because these ladies have seen doctors and hospitals and we want to give them the feeling of going to a boutique for a visit rather than going to another clinic,” Petty said.

Petty and her staff file insurance claims, as well.

The store also caters to nonsurgical customers with its selection of hard-to-find bra sizes, custom lingerie orders, a year-round selection of swimsuits and specialty pajamas and lingerie for menopausal women.

The staff fits customers for free. They also adjust all bra straps if the woman wants help.

“We can be fully hands-on or give more privacy, depending on the customer,” Petty said. “We can step in and take the guess work out of it.”

Petty said her customers like that the employees hang up tried-on items and put them away.

Some customers make appointments, but they aren’t necessary, unless customers need to shop outside of regular store hours.

The store also carries jewelry, purses, inspiration gifts and pink ribbon items for breast cancer awareness.

Fitting Concepts offers free gift-wrapping.

“Always be aware that everyone is unique. Everyone has a story. We need to be sensitive to their feelings and be supportive.”
