Bronx zoo reptile house has been closed for six days.
Zoo officials summoned media to mysterious briefing on Thursday afternoon. The topic was not immediately divulged.
The zoo's Reptile House closed Friday after zoo workers searched but did not find the Egyptian cobra.
In less than a week, the snake has become the stuff of urban legend. Someone even started pretending to be the cobra while tweeting fake updates to legions of followers.
Zoo officials have said they were confident the snake was hiding in the Reptile House but conceded that finding it would be difficult.
