AMORY - On Sunday, May 17, the Amory Regional Museum will host Sam Haskell, who will be signing copies of his newly released book "Promises I Made My Mother." The book signing is scheduled to take place from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. The event is part of Haskell's 50-city nationwide tour promoting the book's release. Haskell became one the most powerful men in Hollywood as the Worldwide Head of Television for the legendary William Morris Agency. His book chronicles his life from his childhood in Amory through his college years at the University of Mississippi to his career in Hollywood.

Also appearing will be Miss America 2009, Katie Stam. Stam is a native of Seymour, Indiana, and the first woman from that state to capture the coveted crown. In her role as Miss America, she serves as the National Goodwill Ambassador for the Children's Miracle Network and is the official spokesperson for Zerosmoke.

Copies of Haskell's book will be available for purchase at the event. Proceeds from the purchase will benefit the Mary Kirkpatrick Haskell Scholarship Foundation that funds scholarships for deserving local students.

The museum is located at 801 3rd Street South. Admission is free. For more information, please call 662-256-2761.
