JACKSON – Mississippi Highway Patrol wants holiday travelers to know troopers will be on high alert during the holiday season this year.

For the 10th consecutive year, the Highway Patrol is participating in the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign during the Christmas/New Year holiday.

From 6 p.m. Dec. 21 until midnight Dec. 25, there will be 117 added troopers on Mississippi’s highways.

The added patrol will continue from Dec. 28 until midnight Jan. 1.

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety received more than $105,000 in federal grant money to pay for the added patrols.
