FULTON – Itawamba Community College freshman tennis player Lewis Butler was named All-American by the NJCAA on Wednesday.

Butler is the first All-American in the history of the Itawamba tennis program.

“Lewis had a great year for us this season," said ICC coach Paul Johnson. “He beat the number one player in the nation during the

regular season, and I think the sky is the limit for him and his future in tennis.”

Butler, a native of Cleveland, advanced to the quarterfinals in No. 1 singles at the NJCAA tennis championships in May, while helping the Indians to a 14th place finish.

He claimed state championships in singles and doubles to lead Itawamba to its third consecutive MACJC state title.
