ICC, Northeast women to play in state tourney

Both the Itawamba Community College Lady Indians and Northeast

Lady Tigers open play in the MACJC state basketball tournament on Monday.

The event is being hosted by Pearl River CC in Poplarville.

Defending state champion Itawamba (15-8), the No. 2 seed from the north, faces south No. 3 Southwest at 7 p.m. Northeast (12-10)

earned the No. 3 seed in the north and will battle south No. 2 Gulf Coast at 1 p.m.

Northwest takes on Jones and Copiah-Lincoln meets Miss. Delta in the other opening-round games.

The first round of the men’s tournament is Tuesday.

Both the women’s and men’s semifinals will be held on Wednesday, and

the championship games are set for Thursday at 5 and 7 p.m.
